Good 1st round draw with Israel at home. This tie will take place straight after the Australian Open.

Argentina (Away) or Germany (Home) if they win this tie.... Argentina away will be tough whereas Germany at home should be easier but also tough.

As for the team..... Monfils and Tsonga will most likely play the singles and for the doubles.... places could be up for grabs, they could go with Benneteau and Gasquet the Olympic Bronze Medallist or try get Llodra in there as well. So players will try there best and try get into the team.

Gael would need miracles in Australia to play in singles in the frist tie. There are at least 5 French players ranked better than him at the moment.

Once I watched a documentary of a cycling team gone thru an army-like boot camp. The cyclists had fun cos that's something they've never done before and it promoted team spirit. Maybe Arnaud's aiming for that.

Absolutely, I have thought about it and came to the same conclusion. Just doing tough two days would not be sustainable.

But if it is done well, it might tell the players and even more so Clément, a lot about their strengths and weaknesses under stress and their team spirit.

I'm curious about is who comes fo these two days. Clement says all the best players from Benoit Paire are invited except Chardy who is already in Mauritius with Mouratouglou Academy. Of course I think we can bet Monfils won't be there.
It's written only a half day with the RAID, Clement wants to make them do activities they are not used to. He doesn't want to talk about their tennis while they are in preparation for Australia. It's more for team spirit.


After two weeks in the south of france earlier, the womens of Fed Cup are again this week in a week of work with Amelie. Girls are more easy to gather

There were six players Gasquet, Tsonga, Simon, Benneteau, Llodra and Paire. Monfils was not apt to come and Chardy in Mauritius. They spend one day with the RAID where they did some things where they had to fight fear like rock-climbing. Then they spend the night in Clairefontaine (center of french national football teams) and they did more playful the second day with many collective sports.

Well nothing special just trying to create a team spirit doing funny things.

Monfils's story is complicated : look in Monfils's part of the forum.

he has a problem with his arm but also he wants to prepare calmly in Switzerland and is fed-up with people speaking about him, also he didn't appreciate that the trainer of the French team, Lionel Roux, told journalists about his recent arm injury.

Monfils is a mystery in France at the moment, many people talk about him but he doesn't talk, however people who are in contact with him say that he prepares calmly for new year.
