A fraudster has used stolen photos from a Welsh woman's Facebook page to create a fake online identity and enter a modelling competition.
The imposter created an intricate world in which Twitter user 'Hayley McKay' had a string of romances with Scottish football players.
But photos used in the Twitter account were actually of 20-year-old barmaid Lily Thomas.
"This is so disturbing to me because the real wives and girlfriends of these players were all seeing my photograph being used to make these ridiculous claims," Ms Thomas told Wales Online.
"I've never dated a footballer and I certainly don't want other women to hate me like this.
"She also posted messages on a blog site using my picture, claiming she'd had her ovaries removed, and thanked everyone for their prayers.
"Another blog spoke about her sister losing a baby and her grandfather dying.
"This is really sick stuff."
Ms Thomas' face also appeared on news websites after her photos were entered in a Miss Scotland competition.
She said she became aware of the hoax when her friends spotted the pictures online.
She reported the matter to police on Saturday.
'Hayley' claimed to be in a relationship with a married footballer and said she was also involved with players Andrew Little, Gregg Wylde and Darren Randolph.
A woman calling herself Hayley McKay reportedly made phone calls to the Rangers Football Club and broke news of a former player's new baby before even the parents knew.
The club's publications editor dubbed the hoaxer "an absolute loonball" on Twitter.
South Wales Police did not comment.

Funny news about Groove. It seems he was more blunt and outspoken on his views and opinions (combined with a certain level of acting on some of the players which he liked or disliked) on his double account. I guess that's what happens when you don't have to care about repercussions or previous allegiances.
