No. I think Federer's decline is a fact and he's not winning any major in the future.

I kinda agree... He's in a great moment, but the other 2 guys are too good. No more slams for Feddy

I totally agree. Fed's still playing great tennis and he'll probably win another major

Re: The Federer Decline Thread (Is he done)
Nope, only the beginning. I reckon he'll peak around 34-35, winning 8 slams in a row.

Inconsistency of Roger Federer
Federer's name has been associated with remarkable consistency, so many years in top 3, quarter-final streak at grand slams, etc
However, this year seems to be very up and down for Roger, not so much in terms of results but quality of play.
Best matches of the year:
vs Murray, Dubai final
vs Nadal, IW semi (his best match of the year I think)
vs Djokovic, Wimbledon semi
vs Djokovic, Cincy final
Worst matches of the year:
vs Roddick (!), Miami R32
vs Djokovic, Roland Garros semi (forehands were flying 3 meters beyond the baseline in that match)
vs Haas, Halle final (his worst match of the year)
vs Murray, Olympics
vs Murray, Shanghai (serve fell apart)
These days, every time Federer steps on court you don't know what to expect.

Re: Inconsistency of Roger Federer
Yes, he is old. The fact he could produce as many consistent performance day-in, day-out at this age is remarkable.

Re: Inconsistency of Roger Federer
it's easy to be consistent when you campaign for surfaces to be removed for the calender
it's easy to perform when you know that the same game will work on any surface, due to homogenization
it's easy to have confidence to repeat wins and streaks when the ATP bows down to your every demand

Re: Inconsistency of Roger Federer
I'm no Annacone, but if I was federer's coach I would advise him to start pushing like ferrer/mugray, that'll keep UE's down and give his overall game more consistency. His overly aggressive style is precisely the reason why dull has always owned him.

Re: Inconsistency of Roger Federer
Agreed, Noserer should turn into Roddick game style wise: pushing serve bot. Hopefully such tactics will see him of top 30 next year.

that's the worst thing he could do
this isn't 2006 when frauderer could out run and out rally choking mugs and thereby appeared to be fit and athletic
if frauderer wants to keep in with a shout, he has to be aggressive
come to the net, use the forehand to approach, cross court and down the lines, attack the second serve (lol), look for the break in a set then serve it out
take some tips from sampras, basically

Or he could turn into Dull: no serve pusher

Re: The Federer Decline Thread (Is he done)
He is done. No more Slams for Olderer, even semis will be difficult to reach. He should retire to save his tainted legacy before it's too late.

Re: The Federer Decline Thread (Is he done)
In my opinion, next year will be the last year Fed will be in the top 4, 2 more years as a major contender.

Re: The Federer Decline Thread (Is he done)
He'll still beat 95% of the tour on an even semi-good day. I'm not a fan but tennis will be very weird without him.

Re: The Federer Decline Thread (Is he done)
He is not done yet, but the decline is obvious. As people before said, it is very much up and down. He can still play like in the glory-days, but he cannot sustain that level for longer that one match.
Fortunately for him, his worst is still better than the best of anyone outside the top-15. I don't see him leaving the top-10 anytime soon.

Re: The Federer Decline Thread (Is he done)
He was the 2nd best player of 2012.
The H2H against his main rivals:
Djokovic: 2 - 3
Murray: 3 - 2
Nadal: 1 - 1
Not bad for a 31 year old playing against 5 years younger opponents.
Roger will not fall out of the top 4 next year as the haters eagerly want and already started saying.
He has declined. That's obvious, just watch a match from 2005/2006. But his talent and natural ability allow him to still win slams and beat prime top opponents much to the despair of he haters.
4 more years haters and then you can finally rest.
