Psych Tips, Help

Punky: Job hatred happens. Trust me I worked as a dish washer at Noodles and Company over the summer and was ready to shoot myself. The best way to not hate you job is to find the good people their. Open up to someone you haven't before, learn something new about a fellow co-worker. Also if you deal with customers ask them how their day is going, and when they ask how your's is, you say FANTASTIC or Swell. I guarantee that will put a smile on your face, as well as theirs. Plus its hard to say the word Fantastic or Awesome without breaking out a smile . You can tell me your specific situation if you would like but this is just general advice.

Jverweji:Self Confidence is hard thing for anyone to deal with. Especially when it comes to jobs and your well being. I really didn't gain self confidence till I lost some weight and made some new friends. Really it took me getting serious about Tennis to help out my self confidence. You can make the same change, by doing something you love and finding people who love the same things as you. If you can be confident in what you do, that will change your life dramatically in all aspects. You will be able to wake up with a brighter face, a better attitude and people will take notice and respect you more. I'm not only preaching this; IT IS reality. Try your best to find something that makes you happy and get outside and do it. Also doing a new hobby helps. Anything from Yoga, to riding a bike around, or looking at your laptop in the park, will help you become a healthier more happy person.
In relation to jobs, try everything, take up your friends offers, don't feel guilty, be grateful! If you work your tail off at a job good things will happen

Bulldog: Self confidence is a very hard thing as I mentioned above. It's hard to be yourself and be confident. The best thing you can do is to do something that you love. Go outside, do something different and TRUST me your outlook will change dramatically. Also diet can affect this sort of stuff. Idk if this applies to you or anyone else, but sometimes an apple or orange can change your attitude for the better. If you find yourself feeling down, you have to remember the simple great things in your life: friends, family, food, school, job, hobbies, home etc. As I was saying to Punky, using positive adjectives really make you happy, and those around us happy. Also positivity can lead to great things.

Goatsol:Something tells me it may not be OCD, but general anxiety. I was in a Freshman dorm room at a Uni last year and it's a BIG change. All of the sudden you are around different people, you have to manage your own schedule and homework, and no one to tell you what to do. Probably increased anxiety from homework and having to do everything yourself. Organization may reduce your symptoms, like planner or calendar; or setting distinct time for Study and MTF/social life. If you have any questions on dorm life, please go ahead and ask I immersed myself in both the guy side of dorm life, as well as girl dorm life. (Had our small guy floor and a small girl floor above us). Also study tips etc happy to help.

This is a lot but I tried giving general advice, if you expand on your specific situation I might be able to help more

My self confidence is really only a problem with work-related stuff, I'm very good with people fortunately
With regards to finding something that makes you happy, that is hitting the nail right on the head for me. Very hard for me to determine what I like (as opposed to what I don't like, that is easy ). I am in fact working at that, and it is slowly getting better. (I did apply for a job aswell )
Thanks for your insights, I appreciate it.

Thanks very much for this.

It's true what you say, when I'm out there on the golf-course or on the tennis-court, even reading a book, I feel a lot better about myself. However, this may sound bizarre, but I find it hard to motivate myself to undertake even fun tasks like these.

My diet is okay, maybe I should eat more fruit, but health is the least of my worries, to be honest.

Yeah, positivity always helps. The problem is, negativity hurts just as much, if not more.

First thinks, it great to see how others can analyze this problem bc ppl often dismiss me when I tell them.
I guess my big problem is the fact that the place (the bank) is a place I find injustice and that makes me feel bad that fact I'm working in a place like that. I don't like the ppl I work with, I find them lazy, hedonistic a little snob and selfish. I love the ppl on giving then service and I love the stock market, those things help me stay another day but its only a matter of time. I don't think ppl who move money from someone who has to someone who doesn't need to earn so much, we don't build or invent nothing so why all the money?

Most ppl just don't get it bc I work in the biggest bank in the country, I work 5 days a week from 8:00-14:00/14:30 and when I later or something no one is bugging me and the pay is great but again the 6 hours pass like forever

The ppl I serve are great, I even get florets or kisses lol but a person needs more then life.

Ahh interesting. I can only imagine how mundane working at a bank is . Plus having poor co-workers doesn't help. Though it's always good to put things on the scale. How much money your making, not having a job.

The key point is to find the good things in your job and hold onto them. For you this would be the people you assist. Bad co-workers can make it hard. Oh and trust me I've been there with the lazy co-worker thing . I work as a Student Leader/Asian Chef at my universities dining center and we can hire everyone. Even if the person has never held a broom in their life or ever cleaned their house. So it can be annoying. BUT what can help is getting to know the lazy workers. Honestly if you get to know them, with a simple hello, how's it going? Then you can establish a better connection. Also with that connection you can sometimes influence how they work. Of course this does not apply to everyone you meet. But sometimes your hard work will be seen by others and they will pick it up. Monkey see monkey do. Plus their may be Psychological reasons why they are being lazy that day. If it's an everyday thing; then maybe they are having an on going problem, that you could talk to/help them with. You never know unless you inquire .

If you want to stay more positive with work, then do something you love, that will make your job and life seem less mundane and more bearable. Go on a bike ride when you get done, grab a drink, talk to a friend, play with your dog, look at pics of RF stuck in sand.

Happy occurrences, carry on through Your day, and that energy can even be shared with others making another persons day a good one as well

this always pop up when i say i have my job, i know its bad times Economically in the world and if someone has a job he should keep it but ppl telling me this for the last 3 years and every time i stay b/c of that.

I have enough money to stop working for a few years without a care in the world but i cant do that b/c i need to do something, i cant be lazy and at some point the monwy will fun out.

i do all the things u said and the ppl i work with, well they are working in the back more then 20 years most of them, after 5 years if u work, no one can fire u its call Job tenure, your untouchable so why should they do something? they get pay no matter what. its Encouraging to mediocrity and im not that kind of a person.

im still searching for a new jon, im studing MBA so maybe i will teach while im doing my PhD who knows? anything just leave this place.

thanks for the talk, i bitch about it a lot in the castle but never to outside ppl b/c they find it a dream job.
how they say in israel, things we see from here u dont see from there.

Speaking of psychological things. I've dipped into a bout of depression over school it seems. Finals are coming up and am stressing over grades and doing well; lets just say I'm not sitting comfortably in most my classes.

It's so weird, because this is the first time I have ever experienced depression... ever :/. I'm such a happy confident guy and school has never gotten to me before but for some reason I'm losing it

Words of encouragement anyone?

Lenders: One thing people need to understand about this so-called weak era is that it was 'weak' for Federer on HC and grass and for Nadal on clay (Federer on clay too Nadal apart) because they were so much better than anyone else, for any outsider the era couldn't possibly be any harder, during 5+ years you had to either beat the best grass/HC player ever or the best clay player ever in every single Slam just to get 1 Slam title.

Just sit down, open your books and study. That's all you can do. Convince yourself that failing is not the end of the world (because it isn't) but do your best so you have no regrets. Don't stress, just do your best and see what it gets you, one of the good things about uni (high school?) is that you are young and if you fail there's always time to do it over.

Don't be afraid to speak up as well. Inform your lecturers/head tutors, and/or at worst, the Uni advisors. They'll give you some great advice too.
