Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
I agree with ozfan44.Iamnot sure if he is playing with a niggling injury or is just low in confidence but back to the Futures is where he needs to be.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Not a good year for Jonesie. Struggled through-out the year with injuries. Knee for two months in March/April, lost fitness. Then ankle for a few weeks mid year and then the last month has had an inflamed elbow, which limited practise and hampered playing.
He seems to be low on confidence but at same time is still hitting the ball well in patches. Serve percentages are the most affected.
Will be interesting to see what approach he takes in the new year.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Michael Russell has retired in the second round qualifying game against Jones, so he is now through to the final qualifying round against the winner of Cipolla and Henescu.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Jones takes the third in a tie break and beats the current world number 62 and is through to the main draw in Auckland. He will play either Hasse, Monfils, Melzer or King-Turner.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Great fight by Jones. Came from a set down, won the second set tie-break well, at 7-4. Broke Hanescu in first game of 3rd set but gave the break straight back, and then had to play catch-up every service game. Saved bp at 2-3, then took it to the tie-break. Lead the TB 5-1, then 5-2, Hanescu got it back to 5-5. Then they swopped match point opportunities until Jones broke at 10-9 to win the TB 11-9. Held his nerve well.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Jones only male Aussie to qualify for ATP 250 this weekend.
Pity he won't be in the AO qualies - overlooked by TA for wild card.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
wow, where this came from
Starting the qualies with a 3 setter win over someone outside the top 1000 and finishing with a 3 setter over #61

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Jones wins 7-6 6-2. That's two top 100 wins in two days.
