Expected. Clownga would rather eat crumpets and drink tea rather than play tennis

Tsonga securing a WTF spot in relatively comfortable fashion is a testament to the current lack of depth in the field below the top 8/10. He hasn't played a single great match since his Roland Garros epic with Nole (and since Olympics barely even a decent one) but still qualified pretty comfortably because there was no one to challenge his ranking.

Don't forget Tipsarevic is only a substitute, if Rafa were healthy and (reasonably) in form it would've been a different story

Yea, strong must've been when Ljubicic was #3 and Blake #5

Agassi became number 1 with the WORLD RECORD SERVER Roddick in the draws. Then "goat" Federer waited until Dick became number 1 after ferrero lost early in the autumn and months after Dick lamely celebrated his win over injured nalbandian.

there's no doubt that the current depth of the field is pathetic compared to strong eras like 1980s and 1990s, and even around 2003-2004

however, it is really beyond justification that tsonga, who has played shit for 6 months (same for berdych, except longer), and tipsarevic, who should have been banned from tennis ages ago, are considered challengers and among the top 8 players in the world

it's like a race to see who is 'least bad'

the fact is, an injured nadal and an aging frauderer is showing the cracks

beyond djokovic and murray, the field is mostly dire

Ferrer is doing great, also Delpo, Berdych, Tsonga... the problem is that those ahead of them are just too good for anybody. This would happen in this era or any other.
