The first one would be enough to supersede everything Ferrer has ever achieved, but I added the second one for good measure

In fact, I don't think even you think Del Potro is more gifted than Nalbandian in which case you should stop arguing as if winning a slam means necessarily you are more talented than an also talented played who didn't.
Further, there are a lot of aspects to talent. Mental focus as well as consistency etc are other aspects of talent just as much as a good stroke.

Anyone is less talented than Nalbandian, except Federer, and hell it's disputable who's more talented of the two at their prime.
Obviously Federer made better use of his talent. Nalbandian did doodley-squat. (He's still one of my fav players).
Delpo is also using the better of his talent. His prospects are pretty great if avoids more injury time.

Re: Del Potro vs. Ferrer
As much as I enjoy watching Ferrer dismantling Del Potro when they play each other there is no doubt that the Argentine has had the more successful career so far. Ferrer has got the wood over Pony in the recent head to head but doesn't have the weapons to hurt the top players in the business ends of grand slam tournaments. Del Potro doesn't have the consistency of the Spaniard and struggles against him when they play but does have the shotmaking and ability to dismantle the big four on the big stages. This is why he has a slam and David doesn't. And this is why he has had a better career so far...

You say this as if it was a bad thing, why would he ever want to be as inconsistent and vulnerable to low(er) ranked players as Ferrer? Good thing he doesn't have that 'consistency'.

Re: Del Potro vs. Ferrer
Ferrer has now won a masters. He is clearly the better player this year and has been for year

So because he had a better year he is better??? Del Potro's career is better and he is 6 years younger.

Yeah, beating Llodra and Janowicz sure changes everything, not to mention tanking Tsonga

Re: Del Potro vs. Ferrer
Del Potro has the slam, and Ferrer does not, so JMDP is the better player overall.
Currently, however, the answer is Ferrer.

You are full of double standarts. What`s about injured Nadal and choking Federer then?
Just give credit to Ferrer.

Re: Del Potro vs. Ferrer
Right now Ferrer is the better player in terms of matches won overall, but career-wise to date, del Potro only because of that slam.

Can't help but think of Rome 08..

Delpo has been smart with scheduling/tanking this year and will be top 5 next year. Ferrer had a great year but will definitely slip in the ranking next year should he lapse just a hair..Delpo will knock him out in London unless he's out partying with Tsonga and runs into a fire hydrant.
