he can, but will he? it all hinges on how quickly he regains his form, but more importantly how he plans his schedule... if adds clay events, focuses on doing well at the big events, and skips some of his regular hard court tournaments, then certainly it is possible
the problem with this thread though is Nadal has publicly announced not long ago that his ranking is not his concern anymore, it is just preforming well at big tournaments. he doesn't care if he's #1 (relatively speaking) and will not it his top priority. once you have proven yourself all it is is a nice number
I do believe he will but time will tell, we'll have to see if he is injury free in 2013

Well that's certainly the truth. He's younger and better. He just happens to be extremely fragile and has the knees of an old man. He will be lucky to be in the top 3 or 4. |

Let's see what Nadal can do after he returns to the tour next year. I really like his personality and humbleness despite his ugly defensive grinding Tennis. He deserves to get back to No. 1 one last time.
He is a far greater champion than either Djokovic or Murray or Del Po.

I've learned to not underestimate nadal and especially his doctors.
They seem to work wonders with his career threatening injuries. So I expet nadal to do his usual stuff and win RG, MC and barcelona at least next year.
