The hatred is mostly generated by delusional Ferrer fanboys like you who hype his ability and achievements to ridiculous extents, as shown by the bold bit of the quote.

If the Ferrer hype machine stops working in overdrive, the hatred will diminish accordingly.

Well, in all honesty, his ugly pushing game and lack of talent play a role too, as does his vulturing of weak fields to inflate his rankings, but still delusional fanboys like you are the main reason.

Fanboys? I'm a tennis fan, not a David Ferrer fan.

I am a fan of all those who work hard and do their best with the talent they have. Berdych and Tsonga are two examples of players who don't get the results their talent achieves.

Ferrer has the better h2h vs both, has spent much longer at a higher ranking and has more tournament wins.

Whilst it makes you cry yourself to sleep, you cannot ignore the facts Lenders.

Don't even try to deny that you're a fanboy. Winning a ton of Mickey Mouse titles beating no top players means nothing in this discussion.

Tsonga and Berdych actually reached a Slam final - Berdych beating Federer and Novak back to back to do so, Tsonga being the only mean to beat all the Big 3 at Slam level - and they won their Masters 1000 title fair and square, not in a tournament where every top player tanked. They sure did not face players of Llodra and Janowicz's caliber in the late stages.

It's like a dagger to your heart every time you see Ferrer crush Tsonga and Berdych isn't it?

You chickened out of the last bet but I'll offer you this Lenders, the next time Ferrer plays either Tsonga or Berdych we agree to put our logins on the line. If your two useless ball bashers win I'll agree to be permanently banned, if Ferrer wins, you agree to it too? Deal?

The match has to be an official ATP tournament and not some exhibition.

Did we ever make a bet ?

And no, of course I do not agree with such bet. My assertion is that Tsonga and Berdych are better players than Ferrer, not that they will beat him in every single match.

If you can think of a bet that could actually be interesting/fun (like my avatar bet with Ben, although not necessarily that - avatar, sig. having to post something, etc...) instead of something as utterly moronic as putting logins on the line, I'm game though.

i think ferrer have a chance. with his consistency and frequent playing on the tour he can get more points then murray for ex. nadal dosent seem to comeback for some time aswell so i guess he might have a shot. federer can also be up and down but ferrer has been nr 5 since soderling got his swineflu. thats like 1.5 year and if federer can stay on top, ferrer will aswell. the oldboys still have some juice left

Yes, unless he improves his serve.

Federer certainly, and to a lesser extent Djokovic and Murray all serve distinctly better.

Ferrer plays better the more he ages. He'll be CYGS winner in about ten years. And supreme overlord of the universe in a hundred.

He won´t have better season than this one, but he can stay Mr. consistent and top 10 for at least 2-3 years maybe, but his game is very physically demanding, so he must start to decline at some point, he can´t run forever for every ball and play million matches in season. If heatlhy top 4 than no way he will go higher than 5th place, but next year i expect Delpo and Berdych to have better seasons and Ferrer will have little bit worse season - point wise i expect him to finish 2013 as No.7 behind top 4, Berdych and Delpo

He'll continue being higher ranked than Berdych, Tsonga etc. and that's all that matters.

The only ceilings he has reached this year took place while climaxing after having sex with his beautiful girlfriend
