Good for Ferru, now go and get to that WTF final, so you can rightfully claim the #1 Spaniard position .

As for Janowicz, I hope this wasn't a drop in the ocean and he continues to prosper in tennis, preferably against RN in R3 at the AO .

I agree with him here. I don't value a player by how many wins he has had, I want to see offensive tennis, players who want to win matches, as opposed to player who want the other guy to selfdestruct.

True tennis fans should be able to value different gamestyles. Defensive gamestyle is not worth less than offensice gamestyle per se and besides, Ferrer is not a very defensive player.

Why do people dislike Ferrer? Is it because he made the most out of his talent and worked extremely hard to have an incredibly successful and consistent career while these people sat on their asses a cheered for guys more talented than him to beat him?

Actually no one disliked Ferrer on MTF until recently. After AO 2011 he was a hero of Rosolian proportions

Then Lenders came and the sheep followed....

An asterix saying "only top player who did not make fun of the audience and gave them value for their money"?
Because that's the truth. And what I would love the most is to see as many as possible of the tankers lose to Ferru next week. I'm not sure it will be possible because he'll be tired, but it would certainly amuse me immensely.

You description of Ferrer's game is just wrong. He was certainly the only top player here who seemed to "want to win matches", if you ask me.
Ferrer's mindset is not defensive at all.

Really, Ferrer has improved his game immensely in the past few years, and if people can't see it and persist in calling him a pusher or defensive player... I don't know what to say except, buy some glasses, actually watch the matches, or something.
(Maybe there's a reason why Ferrer chose an eye specialist as his girlfriend )

Yes and for many people who call themselves tennis fans, this seems to be too difficult to understand. His game is everything but boring.
It's not his fault that he's much smaller than the other guys and cannot strike powerful blows. I don't see how being tall is "talent", it's just luck.
Being able to play like he plays and beat giants and servebots who have a huge advantage over him, for me, is real talent.
And he does that not only by being a "workhorse", but because he's clever, he adapts his game to his opponent's game perfectly, he tries different things until it works.
When I see this little guy scoring aces with his slow serve, I do find it far more amazing than when a guy like Isner does it with the huge advantage of being a giant.

agree with the last part, I just like offensive players. And please the true tennisfans argument is a non-argument, as you well know.

Yes and for many people who call themselves tennis fans, this seems to be too difficult to understand. His game is everything but boring.
First of all, I am not calling him a pusher. He's not really defensive, but certainly not offensive, and yes this has to do with his lack of power. I am not making any judgments about him improving or not improving. Heck, I like the guy, I just find his game boring.

Just because you think that his game is not boring, does not make it so. It is a matter of opinion and personal preference, which is subjective. So as I said to Matt, the "true tennisfan" argument is a non-argument. Try not to make a discussion personal Sophitia, it's unnecessary. I am not telling you to buy glasses because our preferences differ.

Tennis wins .I'm happy for Ferru, the hardest worker on tour and truly a nice guy.He deserved this title. As for JJ, more than a good week for him. He's much more acceptable when losing.Actually,
he's an excellent loser I might add,no crying whatsoever(unlike someone who shall remain nameless).
