A top 30 player playing the Challenger finals would be some extreme vulturing.

Re: Should Janowicz Play The Challenger Tour Finals?
He should go and then lose, thus exposing how weak this current era of the ATP really is.

Yes but he hasn't established himself as a top 30 player yet.
If he sustains his form next year and proves that he belongs to top 20, then yeah that would be vulturing.
But at this point, i think there's nothing wrong with it.

Re: Should Janowicz Play The Challenger Tour Finals?
The mere fact he qualified for the challenger finals is a good enough reason why playing it isnt vulturing as he isnt at a sustained high enough level to not play challengers all the time yet. (Maybe he is from now on, but not in the last year) its not as if Juan Monaco is playing it - because he cant. (Although im sure he would if he could)

not really
so that makes the finals so far
1.Hanescu - 64th
2.Klizan - top 30
3.Bedene 90th
4.Kuznetsov 72th
5.Janowicz - top 30
6.Donskoy
7.Ito 64th
8.Pella
looking at that i think its fine he plays it ,a lot of these guys arent ranked over 100 in the world anyways so they are still at his level, plus Klizan vs Jerzy might be great :P

Klizan said that he won't play as long as it is in Brazil (he went 0-3 last year), Donskoy and Ito play a different challenger the week before, so they are most likely out too.
Pella (115), Gimeno Traver (68) and Lorenzi (73) can play instead, in addition to another WC who played at least 8 challengers this year.

Oh c'mon.
As I explained to Lenders, him playing the challenger tour finals is not vulturing at least for now.
Because, he hasn't established himself as a top20 level player yet. Yeah, he's very talented but he needs to be consistent. At the moment, he's just a one masters wonder player. So, there's nothing wrong with him entering the challenger tour finals.

Re: Should Janowicz Play The Challenger Tour Finals?
Vulture if he does.
He probably won't though, unlike Bellucci.

Re: Should Janowicz Play The Challenger Tour Finals?
i asked him a question about challengers a few weeks ago and he said he would only would play ATP events - anytime his ranking allows
he signed up for big challengers in Europe (Bratislava, Helsinki) played after ATP season is gone, and it would normally be a great chance to get more points and secure more ATP entries in 2012, but he doesn't need to play those and obviously withdraws instead of wasting energy
his shoulder was a problem after clay challenger season (when he won 2 events week after week), ofc no point in pushing your health for 5 bucks more
