Closest I can think of is Kubot and he was only high 40s at best.

Re: WWW Paris SF: Janowicz vs. Simon?
Simug really fluking his ranking again so lucky escaping Fed and getting Wo and playing Birdshit with 50 UE in 2 sets. Would be just icing on the cake if Jerzys reaction came now aswell and he played at Ch level..

I knew I was missing someone. The name definitely rings some bells and upon looking him up, he was indeed #10 in 1977.

If I'm getting it right, Jerzy is gonna be a seed at AO if he wins this match

If Jerzy wins, he will get a seeding at the AO, but he could also get one if he loses but plays well in one of the warm-up tournaments during the first week of January because any points gained that first week count toward AO seeding....So, hopefully he will enter Brisbane, Auckland, Chennai or Doha and wins a few matches

it wasn't the case, but I'm used to people not understanding French crowd, who's not just "patriotic", it's not that simple at all.
They're often stupid but for sure they're not just "patriotic", people who think that don't understand them.
