In your opinion, it is better to be commitment or non-commitment player ? What are pros and cons ?

Raonic finished last year 31st and wasn't commitment player in 2012.

Klizan is now 30th in race. If Llodra wins Paris now, he would be 31st. Should Klizan hope for Llodra win or not ?

Why do they switch the courts when they play? like one player plays one side for the 2 games, again the opponent plays there next two games.

Outdoors probably because of the sun, but I have no clue to why they do it indoors...

I can't see any advantage of being a commitment player. It basically says you have to adhere to certain ATP 500 rules (how many you enter, and which ones). It reduces your choices, and using economic theory, that is never a good thing. For example, this year a player may have been better off player Bucharest instead of Barcelona even though the former is offering less points (weaker field in Bucharest just one possible reason). A commitment player will have to weigh up his commitments duties when making this decision, instead of basing it on the usual point/prize money/ location factors.

There are other factors beside the weather that are different from different ends. Little things like whether the umpire is on your left or right side make a difference. Same goes for people in the crowd, you don't want to be stuck down the same end as a boisterous crowd member for example. Not to mention the camera difficulties.

But the number one reason is tradition. It would be too weird to not change ends.

When the rules of tennis were established, 95% of all matches were played outdoors so there was no reason to have separate rules for indoor tennis.

Having said that, not all indoor courts are symmetrical, sometimes one side is better because of court layout, surface damage, uneven lighting, noise, etc.

Players have to be exposed to the same conditions. When you think about the court, there are minor differences between one side and the other and those can make a great difference. Think about the crowd. It's a very important element, if players didn't change sides, that could favor or disfavor a player, if the people behind the player were supporting him or trying to disturb him. But it's not just about the crowd. Even the line judges, some are better than others, if players didn't change sides, the shots from one of them could consecutive be called in or out wrongly.

But there are many other factors such as uneven lighting or surface damange (like bjurra mentioned) that might seem minor but put together do have a great influence in the match and how it plays out.

Not really. Committement players are not obliged to count ATP 500 in their ranking, the only requirement is to play them (4 a year and at least 1 after the us open). I am pretty sure the players don't have to submit a list to the ATP. The only thing is that you are given a zero if you withdraw from one without a valid reason.

If Mugbych/Sexpanek finish off the tie, and Czech Republic wins, will the DC win still count for Rosol? Like, will he still be recognized as a DC winner?

Yes, he will be.

Rosol and Minar are recognized as DC winners but what about Frantisek Cermak who was member of the Czech team in R16 and QF?
