Based on the fact that he's a foot taller? Or are we pretending it's 2009? Everything thing else points to the rankings being accurate on who's the better player at the moment.

Where did I hate on him? I'm factually comparing him to the actual #5 in the world. Ferrer has reach 2 semis this year, won 6 titles, blown Del Po off the court on two different surfaces, and deserves to be ranked higher than him. He's the better player. No hate

Not even the most deluded Ferrer fanboy would believe he is even close to being in the same league as Del Potro as far as both talent/potential and results are concerned. Del Potro is 8 years younger, already had surgery and several major injuries and still has achieved considerably more already than Ferrer could ever dream of - that really sums up the chasm there is between the two, which would only be even more gigantic had JMDP not had so much bad luck with injuries.

For example Raonic injured his hip due to a freak fall, that is what's classified as "bad luck". Poor technique and trying to defend when you are 198cm tall is a recipe for disaster.
