Re: Paris R1: Berlocq Tops Istomin 7-6(2) 6-2
Istomin has had a really poor second half. So has Berlocq, but on indoor hard, this is a must win for Denis.
Last time he was in ranking danger he went to challengers and saved his ranking. Hopefully this time he just falls out.

One of the biggest surprises this year, if not in history.

Re: Paris R1: Berlocq Tops Istomin 7-6(2) 6-2
Good point.... Warlocq doesn't lose to anybody unless he can allow it. So my take is that he must have had a good reason and must have emotionally compensated Istomin so that Istomin doesn't take it too hard on himself. That theory of mine is reinforced by the fact that the Warlocq army is particularly quiet about this outcome. So my conclusion is that it constitutes no news when Warlocq wins - nothing to write home about.
Much more interesting though when he loses, because there's always a good cause behind it. I'd like to personally congratulate the Warlocq army for highlighting all of Warlocq's "losses", because that's when it matters more to the community.
So yes, I retract my original statement.

Re: Paris R1: Berlocq Tops Istomin 7-6(2) 6-2
i thought denis would do some damage on hc post-wimbledon, but instead he looked physically and mentally shot. not getting past the 2nd rd between cincy and bercy is unacceptable, and his fitness needs a complete overhaul. i suggest he cut his mother loose and find a coach who can take him to the next level.

Berlocq needed this win pretty badly as he has a lot of points coming off between now and the beginning of March.
