Re: Football Zone
Hilarious reading all the English press acting like Shakhtar are some mug backwater team. They are a top 10 team in Europe right now.
Shocking failure from Juve. Should be Matri's last ever game in a Juve shirt. Juven really need to buy Jovetic in winter transfer period to replace Giovinco. And obviously they need a real goal scorer. If they can afford Falcao then they should do whatever it takes to get him.

yup, our whole team was put together for a similar amount of money to what jordi alba cost on his own cost. really proud of the team, but gutted about the goal. still, celtic have shown that we're a good team and that the scottish league isn't some footballing backwater with no talent in it. i reckon wanyama could play for pretty much anyone, and would certainly improve a team like man u's midfield.

Celtic may not be a footballing backwater but the rest of the league pretty much is.
Wanyama does look a good player but I would improve Man U's midfield to be fair. And their central defence also.

Re: Football Zone
Too good Shakhtar. The Brazilian quadruplet Teixeira, Adriano, Willian and Fernandinho really are world class. Will be interesting to see how far they go.
This is definitely the toughest group we've ever drawn. Should still qualify though.

Re: Football Zone
Mkhitaryan is the kid I like the most from Shakhtar. He's a little genius. It's no wonder Armenia are starting to improve as a footballing nation when they are producing players like him.
Celtic fought well but it doesn't make the SPL anything special because they are going to piss the league by about 40 points come May. Mind you seeing Sevco in division three is comical

I think Shakhtar can definitely get to the semis, especially if they win the group. They have a fantastic team that has played together for 4-5 years. Their performance in Champions League last year was stunningly bad.
Group still wide open. Juve obviously have to beat Chelsea at home.

Re: Football Zone
Marchisio is really over rated in Juve Circles. He is at best a Steady Player. Not much More.

I actually don't think Juve's draw today made a difference from our perspective. We still need to beat Shakhtar at home and draw Juve away, same as if they won. Anything less and we're leaving fate outside our own hands.
Beat Shakhtar and lose to Juve, the two of them can play out a 0-0 draw final game for both to qualify. If we draw both games, Shakhtar will have already won the group before the final game allowing Juve to win in Donetsk and come 2nd.
This is all assuming Nordsjaelland lose their remaining three games, which they probably will. They were hanging by a thread against Juve today.

Re: Football Zone
More than seeing Juve down 0-1 for quite a long period of the match, was way more saddening in my eyes to realize how much we've failed at this competition historically. Not the right mentality. Wasn't a good game but, once again, not taking the chances are costing us important wins.

Won't be the case for Matri but, yes, it was pretty mediocre from his side and looks like his destination is the bench... 4-3-3 would've been way better against a weaker team like them and 30+ shots from Juve, only 9 on target is a statistic that speaks a lot by itself. It's Bendtner's time already, needs to get more playing time and we'll se what he can bring to the field, hopefully goals and efficiency up front. It was so clear from the start that, despite the results, we needed a goalscorer that it really doesn't make sense for me to still be wondering about it. Won't happen with Falcao but I would be happy with Dzeko. WE MISS YOU TREZEGUET! De Ceglie needs playing time too but against Pescara, Catania not in CL, not like this.
