João Sousa (POR) [2] vs Thiemo De Bakker (NED) - 7/5, 3/6, 7/6(4)
Sorry. That's just the way it was.

Re: Week 42 : Rio De Janeiro (Entry List)
The better player doesn't always win.
Thiemo is and always will be better than Sousa, despite this result.
This is Sousa's pinnacle, contesting challenger semi-finals and finals. Good on him for motivating himself, but Thiemo has bigger fish to fry next year!

Re: Week 42 : Rio De Janeiro (Entry List)
Great day por portuguese tennis, as Gastão defeated Ghem, and now one portuguese player is assured in the final.
For the second striaght week, the great friends Gastão and João will play each other. They are also in doubles SF, playing together. Elias has been a portuguese killer in South America. They are 2-2 in the H2H. João one the 2 first times (both in Estoril open), but Gastão won it the 2 last times (Bordeux CH and San Juan CH last week). Let's see how it goes tomorrow!

Veic is simply pathetic
He is a third round player
He just can't win three in a row
what a loser

Sousa appears with confidence here. For me this match, attended he conditions of both, it was 50/50. And João is a fighter and won mainly because of that. It's obvious that De Bakker is a better player.

It looks like he wasted your betting ticket...
The fact is, he is not fully commited to his tennis carrer, so you shouldn't rely on him to win every match against lower-ranked players, especially experienced like Pashanski, who's actual ranking doesn't correspond to his real value.
Anyway, Veic stays in South America for another two weeks and I expect some better results than this quaterfinals. But I wouldn't put my money on him.

Re: Week 42 : Rio De Janeiro (Entry List)
And AGAIN Gastão beats his friend for the 3rd straight time and 2nd straight week. 6-4, 7-5. 3rd challenger final for him, in his career. 2nd one this season. Other 2 finals were against 2 great clay players like Berloqc and Robredo. This is his best chance to win his first CH tittle! Hope he gets it!
VAMOS LÁ GASTÃO!
