Murray and Roddick to play on white court
Tiriac should be envious. It's also good to see that the top players are putting the extra free weeks they have towards training and recuperation and are not getting involved into needless exhibitions.
Quote:
U.S. Open champion and Olympic gold medalist Andy Murray and recently retired American Andy Roddick will play on a white court in an end-of-year exhibition event in Miami next month.
The pair will feature in the first edition of the Miami Cup, along with 2003 French Open winner Juan Carlos Ferrero, fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro, Colombian Alejandro Falla and top- ranked American, John Isner.
Roddick announced his retirement at the U.S. Open in August and is playing a series of farewell events.
The tournament will be held at Crandon Park, home to the annual Masters Series, Sony Ericsson Open and the stadium court will be transformed from it's usual purple and green color system to white with red lines, painted within blue surrounds.
Tennis is increasingly experimenting with new color schemes and the Madrid Masters this year was played on blue clay -- a move that was unpopular with some of the players.
The tournament will be held from Nov 30 through December 2.

I'll watch.
And Murray trains in Miami anyway, I doubt it will be a big inconvenience.

Hopefully there's a stream, so we could all witness the event that outdid the Ion.

Re: Murray and Roddick to play on white court
This is why tennis should be a 52 week sport.
Top players don't have to play every week of the year, but might as well play competitively instead of exhibitions.

Re: Murray and Roddick to play on white court
Exo season indeed. Murray & Roddick in Miami. Novak in Bratislava vs Klizan!! Nishikori in Tokyo vs Hewitt. Federer and his S.America tour taking along Del Po, the Bryans, Tsonga, Belluci...
Cool to mix up court colours I guess - keep it interesting. White seems dull though - all black with neon tramlines should have been the way to go!

What about reflections from the court?
A white court during daytime would reflect all the sunlight. At least it wouldn't get as warm.
A black court on the other hand would absorb all the sun rays and get heated up to extreme temperatures.
Conclusion : black courts are feasible for night sessions, while white courts have no place in tennis.

Liverpool FC need to return to the good old days when the players were born and bred locally. Dalglish, Keegan, McDermott, Kennedy, Lawrenson, Hansen, Grobelaar, Toshack, Molby ........ or were they just the Chelsea of the 70's buying the best talent available in the market?

Exhibitions are usually for charities, it's nice for them to give back. And exhibitions aren't as draining as matches are.
The ball should be red or orange.
