Harrison had plenty of opportunities and will only play if they need him on the main squad. Krajicek, Kudla, and Johnson served on the practice squad before and were signed up for tournaments in Europe during that time span. Klahn will get his chance if he hadn't already; they generally nominate new practice partners for every tie (part of the initiative to expose young players to the Davis Cup). Krajicek was a pretty successful junior before he went to college (National Champ). Turned pro this year (I think) and he had good results earlier this year, but he is kinda in a slump right now.

So can you tell me about Austin's game, as I don't see really anything much in this thread referring to it?

Re: Austin Krajicek
Austin won 6-0 6-1
He hadn't won a match in a while but I just get the feeling he loves playing in Texas

Re: Austin Krajicek
it has a been a while since his last title; hopefully, this will give him some confidence. Let's go for another title in Texas.

TBH, I haven't seen much of him. I saw only a couple of games against Jerzy Janowicz in Winston-Salem Qualifying. He didn't play well, neither did Jerzy (tons of errors and nobody seemed to want to win). I still remember sitting there thinking "will somebody win the damn tiebreaker already" . From the little of what I saw, Austin looked like a typical baseliner with good lefty serve. I think his forehand is the stronger side, not sure though (Jerzy kept attacking his backhand). Maybe somebody who watch college tennis can tell you more about him. I didn't stay for the 2nd set; it was hot (hard to stay in one spot for too long) and I wanted to see other players as well. But judging from the scoreline 6-7(9) 5-7, it probably was a struggle like in the first set.

Hard to say based on a couple of games where both players struggled to keep the ball in play. I wanna say a grinder, but he did go for a lot of his shots but I don't think he is as aggressive as Klahn. Sometimes, it is hard to judge a player's style on one match; for instance, Klahn was very passive the first time I saw him.

Re: Austin Krajicek
63 67 75, is Austin really back in form or he just likes to play in Texas?
