I mean you never know how much longer we will have Fed Express around so I don't blame crowds around the world for going nuts for him! it might be your only chance of ever seeing him win a match, why not cheer your heart out!?

honestly Murray always has such a bad attitude and Roger's so classy that I'm not surprised the Chinese crowd was a bit down when Murray won. I get that there should be some class but all the same time, I'm not clapping that much when Nadal loses, and I don't expect a very pro Chinese crowd to be ecstatic for Murray

I do find it funny, the comment mentioned about how Murray kept hitting those short balls against Simon and kept doing it even with the big boos of French crowd haha

the best part was when they used hawkeye and entire crowd started to rout in in in or out out out in Fed's favor

only way nole loosing the title was if Fed reached the finals. nole can't stand that he is crowd's second favor so such routing would damage his mentality

Djoker was not hurt by the crowds. More like the crowds were hurt by his honesty.
He wasn't afraid to call out the the bratty behavior of their idols Federer and Roddick on & off court. Tough shit for them because Fed + Roddick used to be funny + humble as young men. Murray and Djoker don't have to be number one to be honest.
I think they need to be more loud & outspoken. Not smug & stupid like Fed & Roddick.

At the end of the day, they pay for their tickets, so they are entitled to support who they like and voice their opinion. It's clear Federer always been popular over the years worldwide, especially in Shanghai, so Murray was never going to get the brunt of the support yesterday. Thankfully, that doesn't seem to bother him, and instead, only seems to inspire him. I'd rather that, than the completely pacifist British crowd during the Wimbledon final this year.

I don't expect the crowd to be as vociferous in favour of Djokovic today.

I thought the crowd was even louder cheering for Djokovic in the final. I've never heard a crowd full throttle chanting IN IN IN and OUT OUT OUT at the hawk eye review. Murray may have gotten a bit more of a hand sometimes because he played very well indeed, but the crowd was loudly in support of Djokovic.

I agree with you. I didn't think the support would be so boisterous and in favour of Djokovic. Murray did a good job of keeping them relatively quiet until Djokovic broke back in the 2nd and then the crowd support carried him through the remainder of the match.

Except that the Asian brand in question is Japanese, and they have a very testy relationship with the Chinese.

Other than that, it depends on where you're asking. I've been to Indian Wells each year for the past few or so, and I don't think Djokovic has gathered the crowd's support in the way that Federer and Nadal have, even after his big year in 2011.

Murray loves crowds that get on his case. He tries to troll them like a good heel.

Murray was definitely not loving the crowd in the final.

There are different forces at play.

i think the Chinese have a sympathetic bond with Serbia because of the U.S. bombing their embassy in Belgrade. In the U.S. there's still some lingering feeling of thinking the Serbians are ethnic cleansers. Also Novak has been courting the crowds for some time with being wiling to speak their language and to entertain them when prodded by announcers.

Andy Murray gets a little more support at IW because he's an English speaker, but I don't see the crowds really embracing them. Overall I'd say that the IW crowd's favorite is Federer unless he plays an American and then it's still never against Federer. Then Nadal, then Murray, then Djokovic. But, it's pretty even with these last three. I think the crowd likes Djokovic quite a bit, and there are certainly Nadal haters in the crowd.

It's an establishment crowd. I've cheered for Coria when he played against Agassi and Enqvist against Sampras. It takes balls.
