Nole killed tennis by losing that match.

Agree. 2011 was his peak year but he is past his peak now.

Like Wilander after 1988. Djokovic does not ride the rails and is a better player than Wilander though and should win a few more slams but his dominance over the tour is over.

I always felt like a true no. 1 should never lose a single match to any other tennis player throughout his whole career. Only then can you show truly undisputed dominance. In fact, it would be even better if this real no. 1 never lost a single point in his whole career. Again, that would show truly unrivaled dominance.

I hope one day to see that sort of player, and this current top 4 will comparatively look like a bunch of jokes.

Bump.

After 3 losses to Nadal, 2 to Fed, and 2 to Murray: streak broken. 5-7, 7-6, 6-3. And it only took 5 championship points saved with unreal tenacity to do it. Djokovic was behind in winners for most of the Shanghai final, but ended with 32 > 30 from Murray.

I know this is "only" TMS Shanghai, but a big mental accomplishment for Nole to overcome Andy today. Particularly as he had lost five consecutive sets vs. the Brit that went to 5-5, and was one point away from losing a sixth. Didn't want this to become a huge mental block for him going into 2013.

For all those who say June-Sept isn't a long time, remember it's the heart of the tennis season and featured 4/5 of 2012's biggest events.

I think that TB win (and the match win that followed) will be huge for his confidence going forward after these last few months of failing in the clutch.

Djoker beat Federer at RG and Fed is certainly still a member of the Top 4.
And about those 4/5 biggest events...the WTF is not necessarily worth less than the Olympics so what your saiyng is pretty arbitrary.
