these questions are still alive today and the proud venezuelans know it too well. the carpetbaggers who left can try to make their fortunes elsewhere and won't be missed.
Yep. Just like the Soviet Union, Italy, Germany, Cuba, Vietnam, Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Bolivia, etc.. All the carpetbaggers leaving liberty behind...
You've seen what the socialists did to Spain after they booted out an extremely successful pro-American capitalist that was thrown out to appease terrorists and not only did that fail, but anyone with a brain is fleeing Spain. That's the big problem. A right-wing government restores financial order and then the demagogues elect a socialist to ruin everything.
It's Idi Amin and Robert Mugabe all over again. Expelling all the best people.

Don't worry, deep down our Chilean friend doesn't believe any of this. Venezuala is at the opposite end of the political spectrum to Chile yet look where he chooses to live.
I understand Venezuelans don't want their country to be banana republic and American colony, but why communism??? Can't they learn anything from history?
As Vladimir Bukovsky best put it: "I have lived in your future, and it didn’t work."

the place i was born and I've always lived? the place where also my family is from?
chile is the country where unfairness and class differences prevail, a lot more than in the usa for starters.
yet in spite of all the things i disagree about my country, i still love the place and because of that i have a deep conviction to change it for the better in the future. this can't be done by one person. every political change must come as the outcome of social organizations

If you were really suffering, you would leave. Cubans, Venezuelans, Zimbabweans, North Koreans - they happily abandoned the country they were born in for political reasons.
Your only complaint is that people around you are becoming much richer than you, not that your own situation is declining.
I root for Chavez mostly purely due to the US attempting to support a military coup to overthrow a democratically elected leader
Btw, this election has 0 protesters. Opposition conceded.

Ferrer vs del Potro
Points from slams and WTF: Ferrer 2920, del Potro 1390 (+1530)
Points from Masters: Ferrer 2160, del Potro 1520 (+640)
Points from small tournaments: Ferrer 1890, del Potro 1840 (+50)
But it's okay, because the top 10 playing more is good for the game!

You do realize that Chavez was involved in a failed coup and was involved in numerous other actions to undermine the government, the exact same charges that he outrageously accuses of everyone else?

What are you talking not even China or Cuba are properly communist countries these days. North Korea is the only communist country at the moment.

The US is much farther away from a "proper" capitalist society than any of those nations are from a "proper" communist society." In fact, with all the social programs and entitlement spending, the US is much closer to socialism than capitalism.
Communism has already revealed its true face in every place it goes. A regular citizen in Nazi Germany had more personal freedom and economic opportunity than any communist nation in history. Yet we still have countless self-described communists in Western academia, literature and the media.
Recently I watched a documentary about the '70s radical left terrorist group. These rich, white, pampered losers were lousy terrorists, but today they are esteemed college professors!!! preaching the same crap to young people who will be able to bring the revolution to America. Venezuela might be closer than you think...
