Stay pressed that the Djoker will end this year as #1 and not the player in your avatar. Making fun of Nole or calling him vulture won't change a thing about that.

A scenario where Novak loses the finals of Shanghai and YEC to either Federer or Murray but wins Paris final against somebody other than Federer/Murray would be interesting. What will people say here?

What do you mean "how his #1 will look"?
You have to beat certain players to be No. 1 now? Because the same logic would have to apply to ALL players....not just Djokovic.

Djokovic is 17-10 against Top 10 this year, Federer is 13-5. His Australian Open was already weaker than 2011 but after he hardly played better than from 2007-2010. If Nadal had not been injured, Djokovic might be #3. And Olympics also helped him to get easy 1000 points in Torono

More like Federer in 2008 and Nadal in 2011. Slams won't come as easily in the future as they did for Djokovic in 2011, his peak year. He will soon hit 600+ matches which is when players begin declining as seen in the past 20 years.

Interesting theory, this. In 2008 Federer was knocked off his perch by Nadal, and then Nadal by Djokovic in 2011. So who will knock Djokovic off his perch in 2013, as it were (assuming he ends this season as n.1)? Murray?? Is Murray not also near to reaching 600+ matches and therefore in decline?

Murray doesn't have a particularly large number of matches under his belt, because he doesn't play many 250s, or on clay much, and only really has been a top player for four years.
Top 20 main tour+DC+challies+futures matches:
Feder 1097
Djoko 698
Murray 591
Nadal 772
Ferrer 833
Berdy 671
Tsonga 542
DelPot 494
Tipsy 708
Monaco 551
Isner 357 <-- plus lots of college matches
Mugro 609
Cilic 487
Gasq 616
Raonic 269
Wawa 553
Nishi 330
Simon 645
Kohly 635
Dolgo 456

Re: Djokovic hasn't beaten a fellow member of the Big 4 since early June...
They've just been better than him since then, except for Nadal who's out with an apparent "injury".
Murray = better in both matches. Federer = better in both matches. Nadal = better in RG final.
That's the way it should be.

Do you have a point?
I fail to see how that's supposed to argue against Murray being better in their last two matches, which he clearly was.

Re: Djokovic hasn't beaten a fellow member of the Big 4 since early June...
And what do you want to say here? That Djokovic doesn`t deserve #1 if anything? I thought one and forever this question was solved - #1 is the player with the biggest amount of points and that`s all. Titles, victories are another question and irrelevant here. Ranking position is all about points.
If you just wanted to share you notice - OK, thanks.

Would that make him the male Azarenka? Fed+Murray=Serena's result
But seriously, he's been the more consistent player, and despite a loss to Murray and Isner (his only in the hc season), won the first half the year pretty convincingly beating Federer(in RG), Nadal and Murray(inAO).
