Re: Hugo Chávez re-elected president in Venezuela
Isn't "won" the correct statement?

Re: Hugo Chávez re-elected president in Venezuela
It sucks, not because hes a leftist, but because almost every latin america country allows re-elections. There should be only one term of 4 or 5 years. I think only Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay doesnt allow re-elections. What happens then? The government can delay a lot of measures or allow to some ignorant to stay almost a decade in power, turning the presidency into some kind of job.

Another massive win for democracy. Warlord Chavez is the most deserving candidate as it was proven by him being chosen in a non rigged, 100% legitimate election.

Good stuff.
Chavez is a good man. Love hypocrisy of the US hating on him and wanting him out when they kicked a democratic Chilean government out years ago and put Pinochet in power.

yeah those days of widespread political puppetry in south america definitely seem a little more distant at the moment... a fantastic continental movement... people have good reason to be proud down there...

It was a hilariously bad move over the whole Pinochet thing and while Chavez isn't the most insane or iron-fisted leader he's close to being the same mold as Nazarbayev, though still a ways off from Lukashenko

Re: Hugo Chávez re-elected president in Venezuela
It's funny, no one you talk to in Venezuela likes Chavez. They hate him passionately. I mean everyone you talk to from there.
But is anyone really surprised?
Or that you know his failure to eliminate term limits would stop him? Let me guess, they had another vote on it and he won by a huge margin by turning out the dregs of society.
This is a good thing in one area, that being that more of the best people will be leaving the country and coming here. They have already had a huge brain drain and I think that losing even more of their business leaders and their capitol will further sink the country into the crime-ridden cesspool that it has already become. And the people deserve it, so that is def a good thing.

Most of Chavez's opposition have already fled to the United States - the smartest and best educated. Venezuala remains the most corrupt in South America which is quite an achievement considering its competition. Looks like nothing will change any time soon.

Pathetic, but NID.
World loses here.
Pathetic continent I live in.
But well... Chavez must worry about other issues right now.

Re: Hugo Chávez re-elected president in Venezuela
when they kick at your front door
how you gonna come?
with your hands on your head?
or on the trigger of your gun?
when the law breaks in
how you gonna go?
shot down on the pavement?
or waiting in death row?
these questions are still alive today and the proud venezuelans know it too well. the carpetbaggers who left can try to make their fortunes elsewhere and won't be missed.
