Re: Nishikori will win a slam
I think Nishikori could have a Ferrer type career. Having a hard time going all the way in major tournaments but doing real good in 250s/500s and possibly peaking at around 4-5 in the rankings. Maybe not so high but at least a shot at top10. No slam wins

Re: Nishikori will win a slam
Nishikori has an efficient game that will take him to the top 10 but I've yet to see the variety and big weapons needed to win a GS.

Re: Nishikori will win a slam
Right now you need really big weapons (although...Murray ), but there probably will be a transitional period after these top guys retire, and people like Nishikori can definitely benefit from that

Re: Nishikori will win a slam
Nishikori seems to be injury prone, and not that young to benefit from top 4 retirements. Not impossible, but a lot of things will have to go his way to happen

I really hope he does win a Slam but he must improve his serve first.

Re: Nishikori will win a slam
I hope he does, but i don't think he will unfortunately. I think he will be a solid top 10 player, have good runs in slams, and win 250/500 tournaments.
But i hope he proves me wrong and wins a slam one day

Re: Nishikori will win a slam
Ask yourself this. When the top 4 are gone in probably like 3-4, maybe 5 years time, who else besides Raonic and Nishikori will rock the tennis world? Tomug? Suck?

this is so true. really, everyone who is scoffing at the idea needs to step up and name the 2017 and 2018 slam winners, or else shut up. I mean it might not even take that long, but either way, the fact is that the Grand Slams will be played and some two people will reach the final and one of them will win it. No matter how "muggy" everyone is, someone will end up the winner.

Re: Nishikori will win a slam
No way Nishikori is winning a slam unless the current top 4 go into retirement for the next 5 years. He's also not that young at 23. I really wonder sometimes if people think before they start these threads. In the current example, I am sure that did not happen but there are other reasons for that.

When Nole and Murray are 30, Nishikori will be 28, not exactly a world of a difference. Also Del Potro >>>>> Raonic/Nishikori.

Re: Nishikori will win a slam
lets just hold on to our hats
yes he's a talent- and yeah we've been waiting for this for a while- but a "nadal" killer- not yet
give him time. last thing he needs is pressure

You really think the top 4 guys, especially Rafole still hanging around for another 5+ years, given how physical their games are?
Anyways what about Rafter? He began to peak around mid-late 20's. Include a pretty weak future for the rest of the field, and the outcome just seems inevitable. I just don't see anyone else who can grab slams, besides these two youngsters. Yes, Del Potro could also be in the mix as well. I think it would be nice to see either guys holding up the Wimby and USO trophies. When Nadal retires, we'll start to see surprise winners for RG since clay aren't probably Kei's and Milo's best surfaces. That would be pretty cool I think. But I can bet you my ass that a Spanish player would still at least grab one RG in this new era.
