YE #1 is overrated.

Roger was unluck back in 2003 when Roddick edged him by only 160 points.

Had he been #1 in the end of 2003 he would already have 6 YE #1.

Plus that is one record of sampras Roger won't beat given sampras's 6 YE #1 were consecutive.

yes, I don't understand why Slasher doesn't look at the Race (Fed 1105 points behind), it's so simple comparing to looking at points to "defend" and so on.

I'm convinced that Fed will not play Paris and Djokovic will, that's why imo, Fed needs to do something great in Shanghai to have a chance for the YE #1.

Will it be enough or not ? too early to say, it all depends on what Djokovic will do and what will happen in Basel and the WTF.

Besides, as far as the rankings are concerned, getting to QF in Shanghai would guarantee Fed to stay number 1 until the end of PAris-Bercy, that means 302 weeks at this rank instead of 299.

Yes ofc its overrated when Olderer was stopped to have that record too YE 1 is a big thing and only idiots think its not important, its bigger thing and record then all those overrated records of QF streaks second round streaks that Olderer fans comes up with If somehow Olderer manages to get that YE 1 at the end i see already gloating and many threads about that...

well I made a mistake : 8 + WTC actually, the Olympics trouble me.

but not that "vulture" bullshit again

Tipsarevic does like many players did before him when at one moment they reached a high ranking then were "marketable" (for instance Verdasco did the same) : he makes money.

In terms of ranking points, it changes hardly anything for him.

Ah yes, the Race, I am not used to looking at that. My shiny table is easier for me, LOL.

Maybe Federer will withdraw, because allegedly received death threats upon arriving in Shanghai ...

technically yes, he gains points

but he isn't defending all three of basel, paris and year end championships

as i have said many times before, the year end no 1 is djokovic's to lose

and rightly so, he has been the most consistent player of 2012

federer should be content with his wimbledon, his medal, and his newly acquired weeks at no 1
