Just look at history and see how many players got to #1 just by winning one or two majors a season; winning three majors virtually guarantees the #1 ranking. The only "realistic" way that the CYGS player doesn't obtain the #1 ranking is if everyone else conspired to have the hypothetical runner up vulture all the points left and the CYGS winner sits out everything else.

I didn't say it was likely. But the premise of this discussion is one record only, so nothing else should be taken for granted. 12 majors, certainly, that is implied. Weeks as #1 are not. Though anyone winning all the slams would certainly be regarded as the best player that year even if someone else has more points.

So, we are talking about a reverse wozniacki situation here?
But you are right..we are talking only about a single record and it's direct implications.

Add to that, 3 consecutive calendar year GS with the 3rd year being the Olympic one.

Re: Most coveted record
I have to go with Slam total. Combinations of longevity and dominance can always be summarized by Slam total. A bonus would be if it included a career slam or even a CYGS. Winning slams with, say, 10 years apart is also nice.

Meaning having won the most slams (singles) in history with 87 slams. I wanted to keep it within the realms of possibility, you know.

Wow..that would be one of the worst records to choose.
I doubt even rafatards can be that dumb.
Maybe his clay record is what they'll choose.

Re: Most coveted record
Clay GOATness should be the one record that every player wants, it's the surface of surfaces. One surface that rules them all, it's where legends are made, where heroes arise, where Spartans are born. Bet Fed would trade in his 16 other slams for another RG crown, heck for a RG win against Rafa, maybe even for taking him to 5 once at the battlefield of the gods. vamos.
