Re: Honest assessment of Novak's year by his fans
Also i wonder why has he become suddenly so philosophical. Praising Murray,Nadal and Federer at each interview. Wonder what is going on there.

Just to deflect attention away from the fact that his results have dropped away so much since 2011.

Nothing new there I guess, he was usually praising them win or lose

Re: Honest assessment of Novak's year by his fans
Very very good season. Incredible fight to win AO, then pretty much always giving himself chances to win everything but falling short quite often. 50/50 #1 at the end of the year so can't complain.

no Djokovic was not defeated by the weather.
And he didn't have to face such a wind as Fed had in 2004 in his QF against Agassi in the US Open, which was even stronger than the one between Murray and Berdych.

Re: Honest assessment of Novak's year by his fans
I'm very happy with his results, slightly disappointed in his level of play (more passive this year in a lot of important matches IMO). He's been very consistent at the biggest tournaments with 3 GS finals and 1 SF and in the Masters Series. Semi streak is also pretty good, active since RG 2010. So 10 consecutive.

Djokovic's 2012 is better than Sampras's 1996.

Re: Honest assessment of Novak's year by his fans
It remains to be seen whether he'll learn from his mistakes this season and step it up next year.
I had high expectations (too high, to be honest) for this year and I'm willing to understand that the presuure got the better of him, together with some external factors that perhaps didn't go his way.
But I hope to see him next year a more mature and centered player.
Today he squandered a 5-0 lead against Charly Berlocq in the second set. He lost focus and got broken twice...That's the kind of thing I hope we won't be seeing next season.
I'll be less understanding next year.

Do you have proof it is better?

Re: Honest assessment of Novak's year by his fans
Most disappointing year of his career. All those missed opportunities aside, not only was he struggling in tight situations against the best guys throughout the year, he is now shaken by just about anybody who stands up to him. Completely lost his guts.
I have no doubt it all goes back to that insane decision to finish Monte Carlo tournament. He was never the same after that.
This does not bode well for the rest of his career...

Really? How is this year more disappointing than, say, 2009 where he got kicked out of RG by Kohli and was outclassed on grass by Haasi? Didn't come close to a slam, and never made a slam final.

Tough year for No1e.So unlucky on so many levels.Despite all that, pretty successful year by anyone's standards. He should should at least end year as #1 and he'll do that.

Re: Honest assessment of Novak's year by his fans
I expect 3 slams next year and at least one CYGS year for him.
That would place him above Laver.
