I wouldn't watch early rounds of WTA if you pay me.

hopefully this means the earlier rounds get more money

finalists/top guys get more than enough + make most money from endorsements and sponsorships

But the primary point of the players argument was that earlier looser were not getting enough. so that't not really the point.

In other words you can't answer the context of what the Ferrari comment was made in? Sounds like you're just like the people who had a go at Davydenko who said tennis players were underpaid, but the media and others conveniently forgot the other important part of the comment.

in the most populated country in the world (China), European football is very much watched.

NBA (basket-ball) as well.

But in Africa and south America, football/soccer is much more popular.

From everything I would say : 1. football/soccer 2. basket-ball

Back to the topic : it's a caricatural but fair description imo.

If Stakhovsky buys a bigger flat in Kiev rather than a Ferrari, I don't think it's that important

Top-100 players used the argument that other federations are not that rich, OK, but as long as the other federations don't get more money thanks to the top-100 players' demands, basically it's what AnnaK said, the argument is purely self-serving.

I will have sympathy for the top 100 players complaints about Grand Slam prize money when the speak out about the disgrace that is prize money on the futures tour.

A $27 000(US $28300) for first round losers

Consultations are continuing with the ATP and WTA over the breakdown of the rises, which will deliver the biggest percentage increases to players eliminated in the first three rounds. Women's No. 2 Maria Sharapova is one leading player to have questioned the idea of inflating the rewards for those who fail to win a match, but Tennis Australia remains committed to easing the financial pressure on those ranked 80th and below.

Tiley said on Monday that the winner of this week's wildcard playoff could expect to earn ''above $27,000'' for contesting the January 14-27 tournament. In 2012, players eliminated in the first round at Melbourne Park received $20,800, compared with $22,163 at the French Open, $22,168 at Wimbledon and $21,954 at the US Open (based on current conversion rates).

It's by far the most popular sport around the globe and it's not remotely close.

Some people don't even make 24,000$ a year... how does losing in the first round make you deserving of 24,000$ please explain?

* Slams Do Not Exist!

Lenders: One thing people need to understand about this so-called weak era is that it was 'weak' for Federer on HC and grass and for Nadal on clay (Federer on clay too Nadal apart) because they were so much better than anyone else, for any outsider the era couldn't possibly be any harder, during 5+ years you had to either beat the best grass/HC player ever or the best clay player ever in every single Slam just to get 1 Slam title.
