I hope so too.. First because it would be so important to get some point for the AO and second because I wanted to go to the tournament in Vienna. I would love to see him again..

Ernests is not playing Vienna qualifying, he must still be injured

Very happy to see him in main draw. Play Davermann from India in 1st round then hopefully Tipsarevic in 2nd .

Re: Mission Possible: Getting Back to the Top 100
I am also very happy that he got the wildcard but at the moment there is a lot of discussion about Ernests wildcard.. I read in a newspaper that they gave it to him to "make forget" the scandal with Ainars Gulbis in 2010!!
I hope that he is able to win some matches so that he can show that he really deserves the Wc ( because of his tennis)...

Re: Mission Possible: Getting Back to the Top 100
Honestly, I think that's a bunch of crap. Ernests has been playing well. He did great in Orleans and would have done even better had he not got the injury. I have not looked at the qualifier list, and although Ernests' ranking is very low, I think he still should be considered a big name. To me, the Wildcard seemed to be a natural choice without trying to make nice of past situations. I don't know exactly why he was given the wild card, but I also think people like to stir the pot a bit, and take credit away from Ernests. I too hope Ernests proves how much he deserves the wildcard!

Re: Mission Possible: Getting Back to the Top 100
Perhaps Ernests got the WC because he's now with an Austrian coach, who in the past has worked with a lot of big names that have previously done well at the tournament. That's my thinking. Who knows for sure?

unfortunately they did even write on the official tournament page, that he got the WC because of that old shi... I read it and was like- wtf?

Re: Mission Possible: Getting Back to the Top 100
Here is the text about his wild card:
The final wildcard will got to Ernests Gulbis from Latvia, whose father was the reason for some uproar in the players lounge two years ago. Gulbis had to depart prematurely because of that. The Wildcard now should go a long way to show that things have been forgiven and forgotten.

Well... whatever the real reason he got the wildcard and that's the best thing...

Re: Mission Possible: Getting Back to the Top 100
As already said its just what some journalists wrote... I don´t like it but I don´t think that this is the only reason why they gave it to Ernests .. An important fact is that Jürgen Melzers position in the tournament ranking would have changed if they had given the WC to a higher-ranked player.. And I do also think that Bresnik may have also played an important part
