Bangkok round 32: Karlovic def. Matosevic 6-3 6-4.
NID MTF, NID. When a great player such as Karlovic wins a match nobody opens threads, yet when Tomic bagels someone there are 10 threads opened.
Didnt watch the match, dont know if it was streamed. Anyway, complete domination, with the servebot breaking the Aussie mug 3 times. Going to be a great match with Raonic, the match up I was waiting for!

What's the deal with putting 'double bagels' when it's 6-3 6-4? I get it when it's 7-6 7-6, but now? I watched only last 2 games, so I won't talk about the match, but I hope Ivo showes Milos that he's only 3rd best server on the tour

Uxyzapenje, it applies only to "servebots". The thing is, when a servebot breaks someone 3 times, its equivalent to a double bagel. Being unable to defeat a servebot in 2 tiebreaks is a fail in itself, because the servebot is inferior in his groundstrokes.
The only non double bagel Karlovic can feed is 7-6 7-5, and even that is a fail.

Just so we are clear, Ivo did not break Mato, Mato broke himself, as in he made errors that gave Ivo the breaks, Ivo doesn't have the stuff to make Mato break.
Sadly the better player lost here.

Yes, 7-6 7-6 is a double bagel bcs they "can't" break. But I don't think any score should be called that.... Only Servebot vs Servebot 7-6 7-6 is a double bagel IMO

Again, I didnt watch the match, but its primarily Matosevic's fault for losing 6-3 6-4. I really dont know how Matosevic defeated Ivo in the past, he is the much inferior player to Karlovic.

Wrong again, Milos has one of the greatest serve's period, Ivo's only seems great cause he's 100 feet tall and can put it way over another guys head, but it's really not, there isn't anything really impressive about that, practially anyone could do that at his height, just they are all playing basketball instead, if he was Milos height his serve wouldn't be as good, I've never once looked at Ivo and thought "tennis player", always basketball.

Are you kiding me or what? He serve is better BECAUSE of his hight. He is taller and has longer arms, he has an angle nobody else has... "if he was Milos' hight'... sure, if he was Rochus' hight, his serve would be 10% of what it is today, but he isn't so who cares...

That's what I said, I said his serve is only good because of his height pretty much, it's not due to actual tennis skill, which is what Milos's is.

No, you said that hight being the reason for Karlovic' serve being good somehow takes away the fact that is actually better than Milos's and I said that that doesn't change a thing. If you're a 5'2 and a great serve motion, you're serve would still suck. Look at Almagro or Tipsarevic. They have a great serves for their hight, they make the most of it, have a better serve motion and 'tennis skills' whatever that means, but Ivo's serve is still better. Reasons for him having a better serve don't metter, it's better (more effective), period.

Of course it changes everything, If Milos was the same height as Ivo his serve would be even better cause he has more skill to it than Ivo's, it's skill we are talking about here when it comes to serve, not height, there are quite a few servers out there with better skill than Ivo, if they were the same height as him they would all be better, they are all better at their own heights, but because they are less tall they aren't quite as good in the stats, Ivo's stats look better cause he's taller, not cause he's got the skills.
