It would suck greatly if Nadal has to withdraw from AO, I probably won't even watch it then (except for Woz matches, we almost always put her on RLA ). Watching Mandy or Noserer bullshit their way to another slam is something I definitely do not want to see - No2e seems to have gone MIA and this year's USO final only confirmed it Let's hope Berdshit is in Noserer's draw again and Young or Bogomolov is in Mugray's.

Some different questions from L'Equipe - Nadal seems to have dealt with that Rosol loss by telling himself it was indoors and not real tennis. Then again, if it helps him mentally, he may as well.... Also, funny he says he's an aggressive poker player!

Quote:
"Rafael Nadal, you're a monster concentration tennis. Is what you're like when you play poker?
It is better not? Poker is a game where you have to be fully concentrated all the time. But what I love is that it is different from other card games. It is not by chance. There strategy. You can influence others at the table. Put a plan in place.

Is it true that you have a private poker coach?
It's true. This is a pro (it is the Spanish Mayolas Isaac Vega, world champion heads-up in 2006). I learn every day. For now, I only play with friends. It's just fun.

What kind of player are you? You only defend or are you super aggressive?
I'm kind of aggressive. Kamikaze not either, huh? I like to keep my self-control to control situations. I love this game analysis assumes

You have not played since your elimination in the second round Wimbledon, against Lukas Rosol. Where are you in your recovery?
Rosol? It was not a game. That day, I have not played a game of tennis (indoor reference conditions). Today, I am not yet ready to go on court, I still have not touched the racket but I work hard every day. I swim a lot - almost a kilometer per day - I do a lot of work in the gym and I'm following to the letter the treatment the doctors prescribed me.

^^ What's so funny about that? Nadal hits a lot of forehand winners during his matches, he's an agressive player... can't win slams by pushing (well, maybe just one).

for one set only ... he had lost two sets before and very near to losing another one which Rosol choked a little bit

Oh I agree. Bad knee or not, Rosol played incredible, especially in that fifth set. Deserved to win. But if Nadal needs to justify that loss to himself then fair enough - after all Federer seems to never have the confidence knocked out of him - not bad for Nadal to learn some of that... I think he recognises that Rosol was good that day, but he also tells himself that "I wasn't by best" - easier to accept losing to the world no.100 that way!

It seemed to be speculations from Corretja, not from Nadal, that's the difference imo : imo it's a trial from the clever Corretja to involve him in the DC final without making it sounding too hard in the beginning, in the end he would like him to play singles for sure.

I really think he wasn't at his best, already thought that before but now his precisions about his knee condition are precise.

But no in the itw he doesn't recognize at all that Rosol was good that day : he says "it was not a game of tennis".

Besides, your Federer-reference is over the top : Fed never said about a match lost "it was not a game of tennis" (Fed relativizes it differently : he would say "it was just one tennis match", it is different : in Nadal's education there is always an explanation, Fed is rather about chance and fate "it's just tennis, can go this or that way, let's skip to next one")

You are clever but about Federer, it seems that you can't understand him well.

And it's far from the first time that Nadal says he was not at his best to "not knock his confidence out". Not something Federer does usually : Fed deals with it differently : it was just one match, it didn't turn his way ... No I don't see what Nadal learnt from Federer here (besides he had already said that "Tsonga hadn't "played normal" after his AO 2008 loss, never heard Fed say that)

OMG, again with this real tennis thing? Sounds like djokotards who believe grass tennis isn't real tennis.

Bruised ego.

Seriously the Rosol referrence confirms the general impression which all of these words give me : he's in a moment of "escaping the truth", I mean including the truth about his knee and future, because the truth still hurts, and he's in derivatives, his mind is far far from the game of tennis atm.

His physical condition is maybe not as bad as it sounds from the idea that he just "wishes" to be ready for the AO, but his mind is still very far from tennis atm.

And he doesn't say "he thinks he will play many more years", he says "he's confident".

I think you can't ask him more atm : he doesn't control anything, I think if you want to ask objective and well-thought answers, only his uncle and doctors can give.
