Kuala Lumpur R1: Melzer retires on Pospisil with the score 64 20 to Pops
So sad to see Melzer not fully healthy and not able to play his best, on the plus side Pospisil really needs the PTS.

Melzer
I know he is good player but his physical level falls down getting worse
Today, he broke back 3-5* *4-5 and then he took MTO. After MTO, Vasek took 3games row and Melzer retired.

Defensive tennis from Pops, I think not.

Could never understand a player retiring mid-match.

Why is Melzer even playing when not healthy. He should have enjoyed his wife a bit longer rather than waste spectators' time.

Your idol loves doing it from time to time, so maybe ask him for advice.

I disagree when he does it too.
Unless you are about to die, unless you must get off the court and get medical attention quickly or you'll die, play out the fucking match.

I know you know a lot more than me about playing tennis, but I disagree. Continuing to play can severely worsen a lot of injuries. And does the crowd really want to see a limping, in pain opponent lose easily? People just complain of retirements more in tennis as injured football or hockey players can be easily subbed off.

Melzer wrote an SMS: „Oberschenkelzerrung! Es ist zum Verzweifeln! Ich konnte keinen schnellen Schritt mehr machen“

Good for Pospisil, but this is by all accounts, a disastrous piece of luck for Melzer. A great shame.

Yes it is except for the fact that Baker lost to Yani. Pospisil should reach the QF's quite easily. Very happy for him. Go Vasek!!
