This can be said about every other 'eras'. There have never been an era when only one player was able to win slams.
And actually, in other eras, we had more than 2 or 3 players winning multiple slams, but in the last several years, we had not more than 2 or 3 real contenders at the slams, and everyone else was/is labeled as 'no chance'.

Beating a well past his prime Federer is nothing to get excited about. Also, I'm not even a Federer fan. And yes, back on topic, I'm always right and you seem to be frequently wrong. I called Berdych to beat Federer and for Murray to win the whole thing. So fun!

Muster, despite his dominance, only has 1 RG title to be considered one of clay goats. Just my opinion, of course, many people think he qualifies

Kuerten played in a mug clay era. No way he qualifies. Incredible he became world no. 1 by just being good on clay. Such a mug era, just like the era of 2007-2012, where you have pushers like Murray winning Grand Slams.

He's not one of the GOATs but that season definitely makes him a great player on the surface.

Nadal, Borg, Lendl, Wilander Guga top 5 easily. Bruguera was a beast too, he was like the Nadal of the early 90s (topspin, brick wall, heavy FH and on clay his passing shots were the best on tour at the time.

Its a weak era by design. Two Major major things have contributed to this.

#1 32 seeds in the majors...ask yourself how has this made a difference compared to previous 16 seed draws

#2 Court surface manipulation.....this was really the tipping point

The entire system is based around protecting your sport figurheads....the federers...the nadals....the Novaks....the murrays.....In the past you would have players that could break through. Now its all about endorcement deals etc. etc.

The next most distructive thing in the game for the next ten years I predict will come from the organizations such as the USTA. They seem to be operating under a sort of extortion business plan now and with time they will bottom out the sport at the recreational level so you wont be able to step foot on a public court in the US without forking some "contribution" to the USTA. Thus pushing the entire sport into the realm of the elite etc. etc.

The Masters Cup was not held on Carpet in 2000. Since 1996, Carpet has only resurfaced for the Year End in 2005.

Guga was the toast, Muster was the butter. These guys were epic. Guga's win at the YEC (straight setter in Lisbon) was the only time a player beat Agassi-Sampy and won the tourney.
