It doesn't get independence, it takes it by voting for it. The separatist Parti Quebequois just got elected. So a referendum is in the works. And of course it will be defeated yet again. Quebeckers don't want the handouts from the rest of Canada to stop.

It could be a weird provincial government. One election promise is to to ban all religious symbols in public places - except crucifixes!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, the Toronto Film Festival just opened last night and one of the much anticipated new movies is Ben Afflek's ''ARGO'' a true story about the Canadian Caper, when the Canadian ambassador in Tehran hid six escaped US hostages and then successfully got them out of Iran with Canadian passports.

So maybe this is just a publicity stunt to promote Ben's movie. Somehow I doubt it will be screened in Tehran.

What are you rambling on about now? Apart from pointing out how the Iranian government spends its time putting up signs. Well, I guess you can do that if the country already is a paradise on earth and all its citizens live a life of bliss under the benevolent supervision of the ayatollahs.
Although I suppose it is time more productively spent than hanging a few gays or adulterers.
If the Iranian government saw Bobby Sands as one like them, then that is not very complimentary to Bobby Sands.
