I knew what you meant, I wasn't really trying to correct anything in the first place, just my way of posting like a couple others have done regarding the permanent.
I don't see Cilic being in the top 10 for long periods of them in the near future. Once some of the top 10 retire he may take a more long term place there though, as of now I see him floating 8-15 for a couple years anyway along with players like Isner, Almagro, Tipsy, Gasquet, Monaco, etc

Re: Marin Cilic will be permanent top 10 player
I don't expect much. He's a good players, might reach top 10 but not better than most of current and former top-tenners like Tipsarevic,Armagro,Giles Simon,Monaco,Mardy Fish....Nothing new or special here.

yes, that's what I've thought for long, and I can add something : I see no reason why those who are presented as promising youngsters (Raonic, Tomic, Harrison, Dimitrov, Dolgopolov, Nishikori) would be better than him.
I see that Dolgopolov is often put in lists of promising youngsters and not Cilic whereas he's just two months younger than Cilic , and Nishikori one year.
And at the age Raonic has now, Cilic had already reached the semifinal of the Aus Open (defeating Del Potro) and the quarterfinal of the US Open (defeating Murray).
And since then his evolution has been similar to the one Berdych had in his early years actually.
He has a very complete game, with everything in the arsenal (even his volley is good, his footwork is good for someone his size) although not at the highest quality or the highest power, then he can have a plan B, he has a very good second serve, all things which make him different from the players outside of the top-10 and more in the Berdych-category.

All good!
Out of all above named players only Tipsarevic to me appears as player who is not limited to certain surface.I say this because
Cilic can win almost on every surface, it was always his mental strenght in question.
I am pretty sure the turning point for him this Year was win against Youzhny! Whoever followed that match
and scoreline saw Marin finally being able to win the match which seemed lost (actually after being in control before that! How many times that was scenario with Marin anyways?)).
Lopez should have won against Murray and I just feel it's right time for Marin to do what he is capable of.

Re: Marin Cilic will be permanent top 10 player
Cilic won't become a solid top 10 player just becuse he fluked a 1/4 here at the OPEN with his joke of a draw. There are better players then him.

Re: Marin Cilic will be permanent top 10 player
Cilic has nothing in his game. He's just a slightly better Querrey.
When he learns to volley, and play aggressively, let me know.
That said, he could easily make top 10. Would rather see Gasquet or Raonic or Dolgo in the top 10. Someone with weapons.

Re: Marin Cilic will be permanent top 10 player
Cilic needs to improve his serve. For a guy of his height it's simply not a big enough weapon.
He has some serious mental fragility at times too; I think whilst he's improved mentally, he still collapses far too often.

Slight better Querrey!?
If Marin is missing something; that is better 1st serve! (Very unusuall for Croatian player) He can pretty much play everything else!
Just see how much improved serve means for Murray!
Now Dolgo or else shoud be in top 10? Why because you like them more
ps Where are all this Marat Safin's coming from ??

Re: Marin Cilic will be permanent top 10 player
He should be around 8-12 for a long time unless he gets injured, but he should improve his game to be ranked higher.

Re: Marin Cilic will be permanent top 10 player
He's a 9-15 guy. Top4, then a 2nd tier of ferrer/tsonga/berdy/delpot. He's in with a bunch of others below that.
