Xristos probably declared his allegiance to the Australian Team over the Greeks so we don't need to suck up to Tomic now so he will play for us.

the thing i cant figure out is why is tomic under so much pressure when theres other juniors that are much more lazy and a lot older not living up to the hype ?

Ben mitchell is suppose to be awesome yet hes lazy as and isnt winning matches rafter should be taking it out on him too

mato and ebden arent winning slams either ffs rafter give them a serv

Same as in the US, they are just not hungry enough and the national tennis systems are just not the solution. Anyone that is serious contention for titles for many years now go to private camps and work their ass off. It's not the national centers that have produced champions in many years now.

It's all relative.

If the Brydan Klein's of this world aren't good enough but are doing everything they can with their limited ability that is acceptable.

If Bernard Tomic is good enough yet chooses to tank in matches, show a bad attitude and not put in the required effort, that is unacceptable.

The fact Tomic is ranked higher is irrelevant.

The kid acts like a disrespectful and what they are suppose to feed on it and treat him like a little princess? Sure you can be the most talented ever, but it doesn't mean you have the right to act like an arrogant brat and get away with it, big stage or not.

You have to love the irony of that statement.

As far as Tomic goes, he's just a kid who didn't handle the pressure well and played a very poor match. McEnroe had no right to accuse him of tanking and it was a stupid remark to make. I guarantee if it was Harrison or some other young American, he wouldn't have said it. Tomic is still developing and I'm sure he will learn from this and do better in the future.

That's exactly my take on it all.

I know Guccione did get told by John Newcombe that he needs to work harder once, but that's the only other instance I can recollect. It's hard to understand berating Bernard publicly, when he's easily outperforming any junior we've produced for 15 years.

Why all the hate? I think he didnt tank, he just played awful and lacked a bit of motivation to run down balls because he knew he was going to lose anyway. A tank would mean he didnt try at all, he tried

Rafter & Masur just dealin out some hard truth.

People are to kind to these young up and comers saying "ohh but they are still young, time is on their side, they are developing blabla"

Yes..........BUT they are also grown up. Think they should be immune to critisicm just because they are young? No way. Tomic needs to hear stuff like this. Tomic needs to be brought down. Maybe then he stops building up his ego to unhealthy levels.

It's like when a team coach benches a good player that's shown bad attitude just to send a message. Here they are sending Tomic a message. That's only good for Tomug
