Luke, please remember your point and put it in the changes thread for a discussion in the off-season.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012 - Need managers for September
One more thing.
If there are no qualies, a commitment on Monday morning would be an ALT to directly enter the MD. So it's not that different from there being a qualifying tournament to begin with.

And play already started so you can't commit after the tournament started right?

But I argued that that's not true because it never said anything about only sending picks by PM. In fact, the rules don't say you can post picks in the thread, but you should be allowed to!
In this case, the rule says "in case of qualifying, or main draw if there is no qualifying". The wording I believe was only used because people thought ALTs if there were qualifying would never get into the main draw.
The point is, ALTs are sufficiently disadvantaged (by placing them all the way behind ALL qualifying players), I don't think there is any further necessity to punish them further.

perfect.
ALT's are behind All qualifers players. Don't is correct a player advanced by WO, if there is a ALT's for send.

Because the wording is if there was no qualifying and there was qualifying, I also agreed that it would be wrong to allow that player into the draw.
I do think this is one that should be discussed at the time of the Changes Thread.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012 - Need managers for September
I have bad news.. I have to withdraw from managing Bangkok. I have to go to Boston on business for part of that week.
Then I'm going in vacation in October.
So after the US Open my playing and managing is probably done for the year. I'll definitely manage more tournaments in 2013.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012 - Need managers for September
Hi, I'm managing St Remy, a US Open 2nd week challenger. I have exactly 32 Main draw commitments for singles + 1 ALT after deadline. Should the tournament start on Monday or on Tuesday?
Edit: Sorry, I missed a commitment made by a doubles partner, so I have 1 match for Qualifying.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012 - Need managers for September
I asked alex this in PM but I need an anwser to this so I can go to bed which will likely be after the Fish match no matter what...lol.
I'm managing Shanghai and I Have this situation:
Qualifying Final Round
Matches Counted: 0
Matches Remaining: 0
00:00 | (1) geangr (BRA) vs. cah_ (BRA)
00:00 | (2) jfed90 (CAN) vs. FernandoToshiba (BRA)
00:00 | (4) andyroddlick (CHN) vs. germah (BRA)
00:00 | (3) tenistasmex (MEX) vs. mariagsc1 (BRA)
__________________
The ones in Green sent picks. One ALT also sent. now do I put the Alt in germah's spot who sent late or do I reshuffle the draw?) (and who goes where?)
Another factor is three players in the main draw are in the USO open meaning three lucky losers automatically get in as well as the qualifiers so that's also got me confused.

I went to sleep for a couple of hours
That´s right, at first you replace germah.
Then you change the draw so that FernandoToshiba plays the ALT giving the 2nd seed a bye.
This rule was made because players complained about ALTs who were given the bonus of getting a bye in 1st round.
Here is the rule from the FAQ thread:
How to place Alternates and Lucky Losers in case players forget to send picks in?
They should be placed randomly.
If there are more spots than alternates/Lucky Losers:
Check if there are matches where both players didn't send picks. If so, the manager should place a LL there, so there is no win by Ranking.
After that, place all Lucky Losers in a way that the best ranked players (entry list rankings) go through to the next round, getting a W/O.
After that, if there are any alternates or lucky losers placed against a player/team who didn't send picks, the draw should be adjusted in order to give the byes to the best ranked players who enter the draw directly. The alternates and lucky losers should play their first round matches against the opponents of the players who were given the byes. Example:
http://www.menstennisforums.com/show...50&postcount=4
Main draw players from Shanghai should only be replaced after matches from the US Open from today have finished.
It´s a bit unlucky with the time difference, but you should wait with replacing players from the main draw until the 4th round in singles and the 3rd round in doubles have finished.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012 - Need managers for September
One question about Main Draws and entries and that stuff....
In St.Remy there will be no qualies and currently I am waiting for a result in the US Open. There were 33 commitments before deadline, now, Mahqz win at the US Open is confirmed, so i have 32 players. In the case appleGirl/Mahqz win their doubles match (likely as Wawrinka leads 2 sets to 0), I will have 31 players with 2 ALTs who commited after deadline. Should I include ALT #1 in the main draw following the rule of "deadline extended" or not?
Thanks

This case happened before during Indian Wells 2011 with the challengers <EvE> and I were managing. (Rabat and Le Gosier)
<Eve> had 4 alts in the singles main draw and I had 1 double ALT in main draw. We asked in the manager´s thread and when we finally included the ALTs there were no complaints. So, you can include them now, too. I might have a ALT in doubles again in Alphen, too
