Re: Second half of season 2012.
If he played normal he would beat Nishikori and would play quaters. He will loose vs Japanese now.

even if he had finished daniel off in 3 sets kei would have been a tall order for him. however if he does get past kei he can make the QF with tsonga out of it now

Re: Second half of season 2012.
I wouldn't write off new ATP 5-set king.

Re: Second half of season 2012.
Too bad he played two long matches as the draw has opened up. I think he needs to take a few weeks break from tennis and recharge. He looks mentally exhausted. Even if he passes Kei I don't think he'll have energy for another match.

Re: Second half of season 2012.
6:3, 6:4, 6:7(3), 6:3
He played his best tennis. Should make QF. As I tought he has energy because in match vs Brands there almost weren't rellies.

Re: Second half of season 2012.
One intersting thing: Brands was serving 205 kph 1st service average and all that serves were great placed, Marin won 27% . That's outstanding, I think.

Match against the Brands was good match except loosing the focus right before you're serving to stay in the match.... Getting 2 df in row and loosing the set is terrible and he did it twice. Luckily today he was more focused. Too bad he didn't finish it in 3 sets but all is well. he'll rest tomorrow and Monday will be Klizan.

Yeah. Now you can see what is the diferrence to be 12th or 13th seed.
Marin could spend one hour less on court yesterday, but he wasn't look spend at all yesterday. He is in great shape. In match vs Brands he returned back some balls he was never before. I said before he will be good at this US Open and his fitness is good.
When you don't convert so mutch chances you lost your service. However he was great in decider (15/5 W/UE). I knew he will wib yesterday. Except he played good he was so mentally tough.
He played just you need to beat Nishikori. Big kick on 2nd serve which is too high for such a smsll guy, agressive from baseline and some slices with an american type player can't deal with. Japanese was solid but not at his best. He probably affraid of chance to make QF like Marin use to before. This time going for it.
Marin with self-confidence is bad matc-up for Kei.
