Re: WoW! Players threaten to boycott the AO!
Now watch the ATP spilling sweat and blood to get the increase of prize money, and after all said and done, the WTA, who did nothing, will just say "We want equality".
Yeah. Come on! Come at me, WTA Tards!

they should try to improve futures and challenger tour by boosting money prize, this is where many talented kids get screwed because they dont have money to pay a train (they dont travel by planes...) ticket with a submission fee, and then if you pass let's say 4 rounds of quallies but lose in the 1st round to a top seed you land with 100 dollars on hand... (which you also must pay a tax from)
this is the real problem and not if stakhovsky and suchlikes can buy a ferrari or porsche
but they are top 100 now, they want a coach, nutritionist, massagist and psychologist to travel with them and some of them want to pay hookers without asking dad for pocket money on that purpose
they don't think of the ones who are to make a road they somehow made a few years ago (mind the futures prize money havent been changed for a long time, and inflation kicks in)

I wish it was some random blog article, but it isn't.
The journalist in question travels the tour and probably does have some very good connections.
Regardless of that though I'm pretty sure it's a sensationalist articulation of the worst case scenario.

Re: WoW! Players threaten to boycott the AO!
Boycott AO just because it was always labelled as the weakest, uninteresting slam since a very long time ago? How lame, ignorant and disrespectful...

I love the AO but the article does make a point why it'd be boycotted. It's just in the weakest position .

This is the most likely scenario IMHO.

it's quite clear that Scanagatta's sources are from players who were in favour of that like him.

all this started in Australia one year ago.
Since then top-players, and esp. Federer, asked time to the players to negotiate with slams to get more, and they indeed got more in French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
But :
1. I haven't heard anything about an Aus open's increase.
2. Stakhovsky and some other players reacted that it was still not enough.

True that. Let Nadal get in charge, that 2 year ranking system will do wonder to the journeymen.

as Stakhovsky explained, a two-year ranking system would be good for top-100 players to secure their seat in the top-100 then keep the slams money longer for them. He clearly said it was the only reason why he was in favour of it : "as slams don't want to give me more money, I support this idea which will give me this money during more numerous slams".

I don't think Nadal is particularly interested in two-year rankings anymore. He would still be #3 and it would only be more difficult for him to regain a top-2 placing.

Re: Players threaten to boycott the AO!
I seriously can't stand Stakhovsky. He comes across as very, very self-serving and he tries all in his power to make as much as possible from his limited talent and appeal.
