Marco beat Grigor Dimitrov in the first round of qualies at the Rogers Cup/Toronto. I arrived at the start of the 3rd set.

At first they were trading breaks, but then Marco ended up being the more solid player. Grigor was unfocused. Marco showed a lot of temper, throwing or whacking his racquet 2 or 3 times after missing. He also argued with the umpire and called for the trainer late in the 3rd. It seemed a bit like he was slightly limping, but maybe he was just labouring under the heat (it was over 30C and quite humid). he plays Jurgen Zopp next.

A court at the Old Boys Basel tennis club was named after Marco.

Marco said that this would be a great appreciation and show that the people would be a bit proud to have him in the club.

I don't follow challengers too much, but I've actually seen Marco play live twice!

Pretty odd considering there is an ATP tournament in Toronto only every 2 years. Both times I saw him in the qualification rounds.

He seems nice and sure is a cutie

Edit: I only just now noticed that they put a Russian flag for Dimitrov instead of Bulgarian

He played the last Davis Cup match after the result was 3-1.

I don't think that this a good thing for those players.
Only to play - without points or money or anything.

He lost on clay.

Because of Davis Cup he was not playing any challenger Tournament this week.

Good qualification in Tokyo from marco.

He won against KARLOVIC in 3 sets.

1st round against Klizan, very difficult.
In my opinion: No chance against this in-form player.

Brillant win over Klizan (although Klizan was tired/ a bit ill).

The score does not reflect the match. Chiudinelli was good and competitive,
i think 64 64 or 76 62 would reflect the match better.
Of course, in this form at this point he can not win against a Top 10 player.
But he played easily Top 80 level the whole week.
