Some people are very touchy here.

The truth is 2011 was a fluke year for djokovic. He will have a very hard time even winning 3 slams in one year let alone 5 masters also.
Like someone said djokovic is no federer.

It almost looks like some people were expecting djokovic to do better than what he's doing this year hence the word slump.
The guy has won a slam, made the final and semis in the other 2. Won a masters 1000 and made the finals in 2 others. This is being a great year for djokovic. Most of his losses have been against nadal, Roger and murray.

If you are comparing this year to 201 then this year would be a slump any way you look at it because djokovic was not going to repeat 2011 or even get close to it.

I'm not a nadal fan.

In fact thank god for djokovic's 2011 and 2012 AO, or else nadal would be sitting on 14 slams and would have won 5 slams in a row.

Now that people think he is the same caliber as Roger is stupid. Nadal and djokovic had their single year winning 3 slams which is very hard to do and spectacular.

Roger had 3 years doing the same thing.

This must truly be a weak era, with first Nadal slumping in 2011 by losing to only Godkovic for half a season and then Djokovic losing to Nadal on clay and Federer and Murray once on grass. Slumperer OTOH was losing to mugs all over the place in 2008, must've been still a strong era.

Djokovic's 2011 was not a great whole season since he crashed in the fall, so he was basically on a hot streak for a few months.

Sampras has multiple slams seasons 4 times and won a slam in 8 consecutive seasons. What about Nole?

Nole is not in the same league as Sampras. Again, this is common sense.

Of course he's not, Sampras is one of the GOATs . But he never had a 3-slam year, not to mention winning 5 masters', so I'd say Nole did have a great season, one of the best of the open era.

Federer's 3 slam seasons, especially 2006 and 2007 were better. 2005 and 2004, he didn't play much post US Open, though he did win the WTF in 2004 and reached the final.

Dismissing Nole's season as a "hot streak" is disrespecting his great achievement.

Only Del Potro can take him out before the semis, and he won't. Nadal is winning the AO, bet your house on it.
Somewhere out there, there is a homeless person who once took betting advice from GSMnadal

His meltdown in the latter part of the season is difficult to overlook. He was hot for a few months no doubt about it, but to call it a whole season is pushing it quite a bit.

A few months = 8 months. Have either Federer or Sampras had a better 8 months?
