Could be Benne in 2 or 3, depending on who shows up.
This draw was not as easy as the haters tried to say.

That said, Benne could crumble.

Always good for Federer struggling especially in the early rounds even if it is against opponents who he should technically be beating very easily. I think it allows him to peak his form like he used to in the past and mentally always good for a player to win matches when they struggled.

I'm going to say Federer in 3.

Naw, that is bullshit IMO. People forget that Federer used to actually struggle heavily in some tournaments. But the difference is, Federer knew how to peak very well and play his best tournaments at the end of slams. Halle 2006 was one example. He went that whole week playing 3 setters against nearly everyone, and had to save a couple of match points against Rochus, then he came to Wimbledon unstoppable. Dubai 2005 was another tough event, where he almost went home in the first 2 rounds. Cincinnati 2007 was another difficult tournament, where he struggled against Baghdatis in 2 tight sets, had to beat Almagro in 3 and should have lost against Hewitt in the semis. Sure, Wimbledon itself was perhaps one of the events where he didn't struggle much, but he did the struggling in Halle several times prior and I think people forget this.

You're right, Benneteau is a very dangerous player for Fed and a bad matchup. If Federer starts like 4 weeks ago he will go out in second round. But if he should pass this test I'm sure he will reach the final and has a good shot at winning the whole thing.

I think Benny might drop a set, but otherwise a comfortable victory for him.

Sorry Djokonauts, I am a fan of Federer now. I've learned over the years to appreciate his contribution to the game. No one will ever surpass this man's influence.
Federer ~ The consummate professional. Never retired once in a match. Does not go over the time limit on every point.
Since becoming a Fed Fan I have had 0 moderations

I wasn't talking about Halle. I was talking about Wimbledon. And it is definitely true what I said, I simply couldn't imagine him losing. Feel free to accuse me for lack of imagination, but not for bullshitting. My memory in these matters remains adequate.

Yeah you're right, but back then he had the aura of invincibility, only once Nadal started to really hamper with that did players start going for it and Roger became tighter.

Fed in straights, Benneteau is getting a beat down after the 5 setter at Wimbledon.
