Re: Wawrinka to be Switzerland's flagbearer
Congratulations to Stan! A great honor for him.
Kudos to Roger Federer as he continues to lead by example in sportsmanship.
Respectfully,
masterclass

Cancellara sounds like a made up name lol
So happy for Stan, Olympic gold is one of his best achievements.

Re: Wawrinka to be Switzerland's flagbearer
Shameful disrespect towards one's own country.
Refusing to carry the flag might as well be considered treason in some countries. Luckily Switzerland cares as much for Federer as he does for it.

a guy refusing several times to play DC to rest shouldn't take part in Olympics anyway. Lucky Roger. Go Wawa.

Which ones? Not Norway, that is for sure. Our former medal winners turned down the honor four years ago, every last one of them....leaving us with a first-time athlete with no serious prospect of getting a medal.

Only players that can't win slams care for DC.

So arrogant of Federer to decline the invitation extended to him by the Swiss Federation weeks ago to carry the flag for the third consecutive time in order to allow another Swiss sportsman/woman to have the honour

Re: Wawrinka to be Switzerland's flagbearer
A calculated move by Federer to win more praise for his phoney ''gentleman'' facade.
I bet if they had said ''OK, we'll give it to (insert Swiss non-tennis player - if they have any more summer athletes, that is)'', Fed would have decided to carry it after all.
