Roland Garros QR2: [3] Zopp def. Fischer 6-1 6-3
Zopp had *5-0 in the first set, couldn't get the bagel. In the second set, Fischer was 3-1 up and lost five straight games. Zopp won 61% of return points. Impressive numbers, he's been one of the few truly convincing players thus far in qualies.

Nice complement there Fee-Lo Green...Jurgen is really in fuckin beast mode right now... Ouanna next for a spot in the main draw...Hoping he will trash this dude in 3 straight sets...Definitely winnable considering Jurgen whooped his ass last week...Jurgen is playing well enough to win a first round against one of the mugs or walking byes in the main draw...Jurgen, don't fuck this up dude

I think RG quali R3 is still best of 3 ? Wimbledon QR3 is best of 5 though.
Bordeaux may not be the best example, for both it was pre-slam event, maybe Quanna wanted more rest before it.
Anyway, it is hard to beat Frenchaman if front of French crowd , especially when MD is on line.
Good luck to Jürgen in next round.
BTW, in Estonian forum there is quarrel going, what opponent people want for Zopp in possible first round in MD. Half of people wish match vs Federer or vs Nadal, just to watch it in TV ! I find it very weird, why would people wish for his own player spanking from superstar ??!

Not best of 5 sets at RG. It's only Wimbledon that the best of 5 sets in last round of qualies.
Zopp continuing his good run of form and no flyboy he isn't hopeless on clay.

I still see Zopp as a fast court player with clay court ability. He has a hardcourt game. But since he supposedly grew up on clay then his results on the surface aren't too surprising.

I ain't throwing shade, it's just what I see from his game. He does not play nor move like a clay court player.

No, he grew up on clay that's the only outdoor courts in Estonia. Yes, he played indoors and his game is more suited to that but no he is not a fast court player unless he is Jurgen Zopp Lu.

Re: Roland Garros QR2: [3] Zopp def. Fischer 6-1 6-3
LOL AJ, you becoming a Zopptard?
Zopp is a tall guy so movement on clay isn't the best possible (like some shorther guys) but it's not bad either.
He seems to be a hard worker and he's progressed really nicely over the past few years.
Edit: About the debate in Estonia, I say the first round against a mug aka winnable opponent, then in the 2nd (or 3rd OK OK I'm stretching it too far now) round vs some top player on a TV court.

Re: Roland Garros QR2: [3] Zopp def. Fischer 6-1 6-3
Don't read too much into this, Fischer is a dream match-up for Zopp with his weak and attackable ball, especially when he's not confident to move it around,
If Ouanna serves well, which he probably will since he got here, the match could be very different.
