Of course he probably benefited from more training on these courts than other players.

Re: Madrid 2012 will be played on BLUE clay (Who wants blue balls)
Nadal's sliding on clay has always been sublime. One of the reasons he's clay GOAT is because he was always best slider on the surface and therefore able to adjust to blue clay better than his less skilled opponents.

maybe he was favoured playing more on center court last week (Fed said he hand't played on center court yet last saturday, I think), but he had said that he had refused to practice here before.
Probably Nadal knows better how to slide, which shows that good clay abilities are still useful Also grass abilities maybe as Nadal also moves better on slippery grass than Djokovic
Anyway, call it the rich's luck if you want, but in round 16, apart from Isner, the tournament has all of the players who were supposed and being able to reach R16 actually.
And I've seen very good tennis so far.
Madrid had already been lucky in the past to have Nadal-Fed meetings every year

They use a particularly large grain here for the top, probably to stop it blowing around when it's windy (the official category seems to be "very coarse sand"). The fine stuff is actually removed, no idea why. Other places using large grains because of the weather, like Bastad or Kitzbuhel, keep the fine in the mix.
Presumably something to do with adding the blue colouring agent has buggered up the balance?
They really should have tried this out at a challenger event to see how the courts cope with all these matches.

How does it suck? I prefer Hamburg, for sure, but having a faster clay court tourney like this gives more variety...
Also, Nadal's just having a tantrum. Quite funny really.
