potito was up a break at 2-1 in the final set...He could have won this. Tomic never had it in the bag.

Starace is so bad lately, a W/L ratio of 7-13, not a single QF, not even on clay. I think he should retire at the end of the year if things don't get better. Still, congrats to Tomic, he's looking better and better on clay

Good for Tomic this win. He proved he DOES care about lesser events too (not just slams) and is ready to fight and grind it out which was not the case last year.
He is slowly gaining more respect, fans and reducing the number of haters. Even if he loses a match he "should" win, it's still way more accepatble if he showed interest and fighting spirit to win a match.
