Re: Joćo "Feijćo" Souza
Strange match, but great win! Just a few more good results and he gets top 100. If it happens coming week he might gain direct access to RG, but that too much to hope for I guess.

Re: Joćo "Feijćo" Souza
Extremely happy for him, this was to come so long ago and it's nice that it happened.

Re: Joćo "Feijćo" Souza
Guys,
I'm really happy for Joćo. We all believed this day would come. Now, Feijćo will believe more in himself and try other goals.
ATP updated Souza's ranking today.
Now he's ATP 121!
I'm happy for him too, because he is going to play singles only wednesday in Pereira Challenger. He must be exhausted right now. I hope tomorrow he'd be all right. His draw is amazing in Pereira to get at least a semifinal.

Re: Joćo "Feijćo" Souza
Another disappointing loss in first round of Madrid qualis. It looks like European clay is not suiting him...

Re: Joćo "Feijćo" Souza
plays prakash amritraj in rg qualis
probably the best draw available for r1
schukin & gil waiting in r2 & r3 which looks like a bad draw

Re: Joćo "Feijćo" Souza
good that he came through, but he needs to step it up now.
he survived a tough r1 in Bogotį and won it all, maybe he can do it again

Re: Joćo "Feijćo" Souza
There hasn't been an update in this thread for a while so now is a perfect time for an update on the career of Feijao. Feijao made it up to #101 in 2010 before finishing the season at #111, winning a challenger and making the finals of another during the second half of the season. 2011 was a breakthrough season for Joao, as he made it to the semifinals of Kitzbuhel in late July after qualifying, beating Andujar in the SF before losing to Haase in the finals. Along with that result, he made the QF of Bucharest, qualified for the US Open, won a challenger in Santos, Brazil and made the finals of another in Zagreb, Croatia. He got into the top 100 for the first time at a career-high #84 in 2011 before finishing #104 and making the Australian Open directly for his first ever direct-MD acceptance in a grandslam.
In 2012, Feijao has a 4-9 record. He made the QF in Vina Del Mar in late January, defeating Volandri and Fernando Gonzalez in his home event, before losing to Chela in a tough 3-set match. After this, however, he hasn't been winning much, so hopefully he can begin to turn around his season soon. He lost in the first round of the Barranquilla challenger this week 6-1 6-7(5) 4-6 to Bagnis and defends his Santos challenger title in a couple weeks, so he needs some more points to ensure his position in the French Open MD. His next scheduled tournament is in Houston the week after next; hope he can manage to make a good run there!

Re: Joćo "Feijćo" Souza
Feijao is fortunately secure to make the French Open direct, but he is still struggling for form.
In Davis Cup vs Colombia in Sao Jose do Rio Preto, he lost his live singles rubber 3-6 4-6 4-6 to Giraldo. However Brazil advanced 4-1 into the World Group playoff stage as Bellucci won his two matches, and Feijao won his dead rubber 4-6 6-3 6-4 over Farah.
In Houston R1, Feijao lost 3-6 4-6 to Anderson, holding serve 4/9 times in the match. Next week, his Santos points will be dropping, so hopefully Feijao can find some form soon. He isn't on the entry list of Santos but expect him to take a WC into the event next week.
