Netherlands is a good draw unless he decides he can't be bothered to turn up and play them, because if he doesn't play I can definitely see us losing.

apart from against Chile and maybe Uzbekistan, Switzerland without Federer would have felt comfortable against no team.

I think Fed will play unless he's injured, it's not a matter of being bothered. But it's better that he says it late because for instance, if the Dutch think he won't play, they might choose to play on hard indoors rather than clay ... and for Fed it would be better avoiding clay right after the US Open. That's why it's tactically better not to say it ... although the Swiss media will probably demand to know much earlier

We will see if De Bakker will be able to play in september. Other players Haase of course, and Schoorel, Sijsling, Huta Galung ...

PS : I had made an error in my first post, Switzerland could not have drawn Canada which was already seeded, I had forgotten Uzbekistan

I agree on the 1st part. The 2ond depends what happenes and if his intentiones are that but in the final he has to play point by point and win or lose for one decisive point the dicision is right. He khows better. And if the intentiones not every time are covered at 100% it doens't metter. If he had to lose in a fool way is onother thing.

Just come back sharp Roger, thats all we want!!
MC gives more points. But I'm not so sure how much can he prepare on that so slow clay

And we have already considered that he can't go to Munich because of the sponsor, but Estoril is not a bad idea although I do not know how is the speed of that courts.
I'd like to think that Nole and Rafa would arrive to Rome not so fresh but they have won many times as "not fresh" so I want to belive only in a great play of Roger.

About the Davis cup I tink he's right to not telling nothing now. So he can focus only on the 3 coming slams and the olympics.

Nice, a DC tie against the Netherlands, played over here.
Would be very nice if Roger shows up. Might as well get the Ahoy Hall in Rotterdam ready for that already.

Speculation about Fed showing up in Dutch newspapers has already started, the forums are buzzing. I can ensure you that's not because of all Dutchies looking forward to see Haase, De Bakker, et al.

Should anyone want to come, I'll keep an eye on the tickets pre-sales. PM me if you're interested in joining.

He should ask for a WC in Estoril

All the more reason I'm glad he didn't play MC. Would've just been another loss to #2 or ND. Who needs that at an optional tournament.

yes, and even more surely Nadal's tournament win and good form shows that it was useless thinking of the number 2 seed in Roland-Garros (which anyway didn't give him less chance to play Nadal in semi, only prevented him from playing Djokovic in semi)
