Re: Europe/Africa Group I, 2R: Romania at Netherlands (6-8 April, 2012)
"The best 5 Romanian players have refused to play the Davis Cup match against Netherlands.
Horia Tecau (9th ATP doubles), Victor Hanescu (95 ATP), Adrian Ungur (100), Marius Copil (249) and Victor Crivoi (256) reported they refuse to return to national team until Andrei Pavel will be reinstated in role of team captain.
Following the boycott of the five players, Ciprian Porumb, the current captain of Romania, had to appeal to players outside the top 400."

Really? This is amazing! We are paying 70 euros for watch players from outside the top 400? I hope the Rumanian association will change his mind somewhere!

Pavel didn't quit, he was sacked by FRT (Romanian Tennis Federation)! They didn't even have the guts to announce him, he found out about that from Horia Tecau and his assistent and former doubles partner Gabriel Trifu.
And Pavel didn't ask the regular Davis Cup players (Tecau, Hanescu, Ungur, Crivoi and Copil) to reject the call from the new Davis Cup captain, they did it as a solidarity gesture with his unjustified sacking.

My thoughts exactly, I bought a passe-partout! Tecau even gave an interview in Rotterdam about their chances vs The Netherlands.

Does this mean The Netherlands has basically a free pass to the play-offs? Or are these players good on fast indoor?

I think it is sort of a free pass. Although you never know, but Haase should able to finish off by himself! With Igor good on indoor courts and Rojer, our doubles specialist, I see no problems.
Yves., see you in Amsterdam than!

You won't have trouble winning this. It's sad for Romania, but it's true...

Re: Europe/Africa Group I, 2R: Romania at Netherlands (6-8 April, 2012)
Luncanu has some of his biggest carrer wins on indoor courts, so he can play on this surface:
2008 - 6-2 6-4 vs Klizan
2009 - 6-7 6-4 6-4 vs Fabrice Martin
2010 - 6-4 6-1 vs Jouan
2010 - 7-5 6-2 vs Donskoy
2011 - 6-4 6-7 7-6 vs Lorenzi
They are not big names, just regular Challenger Tour player, but for an average futures-level claycourter like Luncanu these are significant wins.
